But isn't Baselga impossible as long as it's outdoor? I mean, I thought it had to be an indoor venue, like that's one of the prerequisites. Having outdoor skating at the Olympics would be awesome and every outdoor rink that's being turned into an indoor hall is a knife in the heart of the sport (looking at you, Inzell idiots, you messed up something so wonderful) but it seems...unlikely.

it's not a pre-requisite, but it's clear that ISU doesn't want Speedskating to be held outdoor and they make all kind of pressure on the organizers to build an indoor hall...

it's the same issue Swimming has with fina and IOC...they push for indoor pools, but if L.A. 2028 says it's gonna be an outdoor baseball stadium turned into a swiming pool they're going to take it...

surely, in Italy they have definitely more chances to get want they want at the end of the day (nobody knows the art of compromise and how to pump up the cost of every building like our politicians :facepalm:)......

IOC EB criteria for how they’ll decide on the sports program.

Quote

Therefore, the IOC EB today adopted the following key principles with regard to the event programme of Milano Cortina 2026:

  • Maintaining the overall athlete quota (including for any new sports) to 2,900 (as specified in the Olympic Charter);

  • Achieving gender equal participation across the Olympic Winter Games at event and discipline level where possible;

  • Prioritising new events that accommodate athletes within a sport’s existing quota allocation; and

  • Proposing new events only if they do not require additional Games venues.

I really hate that 3rd policy :thumbdown:  which means creating mixed or stupid team events and giving up easy medals to some athletes.

Dual moguls would be a total nonsense...

It would be like doubling up diving events, only to have one half decided using the traditional format, and the other half using the ah-mazing bracket format.

This redundancy of Winter events has to stop. Now.

Sort of like team events in equestrian? I really don't think dual moguls will be added but it fits the criteria.

It’s really not much more egregious than some of the biathlon events tbh.
