Tennis Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016

Well this is disaster. We might have had a small chance for something in men's doubles but that's gone with Dodig not participating (for whatever reason).

Moreover, both our Olympic committee and tennis federation said NOTHING regarding Olympic qualification in the past month. I would have to be a masochist to still cheer for them...

By my count we have 193 athletes competing when the max was suppose to be 172. I guess that's what happens when the IOC forces you to reallocate the ITF Places to the next highest ranked athletes. A more realistic quota distribution would have been 192 athletes.

ITF gave a Wild Card to Francesca Schiavone

It isn't a "real" wild card, the rules specify that a former grand slam or Olympic singles champion in the top 200 that isn't directly qualified through direct entry can get one of the last six spots (limit of two athletes per singles draw can qualify that way) as long as their country hasn't reached the athlete limit.

How didn't give the quota for Çağla Büyükakçay? Hard lines! Whenas there was a good chance for gain right to participate for the first time.

She just missed the rankings, she was ranked 77th at the cut-off and 72nd was the last normally ranked athlete to qualify. She's currently third in line as replacement (not sure if the two ahead of her have fulfilled the Fed Cup requirements though).

Konjuh has fulfilled the requirements. Seems that Lucic-Baroni is the only player who is not allowed to play because of missing Fed Cup requirements. All others who don't already have four players from their country in front of them were allowed to enter the competition (except for Sharapova).
