I have the time and I’d be willing to, but I have zero skills when it comes to formatting tables and posts on this forum. I could help run things, but I can’t be the one posting results.

The format we are using is not something you need a bachelor in IT to learn :p I'm sure with a few instructions you will be able to learn it quickly.

Maybe the only problem is that it's probably better to post them from a PC rather than from mobile.

I would be able to post the results on some days, and I think that applies to many of us. Not having rest days on the schedule was likely a bad idea. I mean, every team sport tournament has rest days once they reach the KO rounds.

So one solution can be this...

Friday 31th July  - Rest Day

Saturday 1st August - Repechages & Challenge Trophy R1

Sunday 2nd August - Rest Day

Monday 3rd August  - Round of 16 & Challenge Trophy R2

Tuesday 4th August - Rest Day

Wednesday 5th August - Quarter-Finals & Challenge Trophy R3

Thursday 6th August - Rest Day

Friday 7th August - Semi-Finals & Challenge Throphy Final/3rd

Saturday 8th August - Rest Day

Sunday 9th August - Gold Medal and Bronze Medal Match + some kind of "Closing Ceremony"

On these rest days we can all sorts of stuff similar to Japan Day, like a TISC tribute (posting our favorite TISC entries from previous editions), or some sports tribute (favorite Olympic moments, favorite Olympic champion, etc.).

I can also help posting results. It's only a question about changing the colour and add another judge to the "arena" if we are going with 9 judges per match in the first knockout matches

Examples:

Spoiler
 Challenge Trophy

Sunday, August 1st 2020, 14:00 (GMT +1)

:JAM Jamaica 0 vs 0  :BIZ Belize

A total of 8 match judges have been assigned the task of adjudicating this match.

The judges are each allocated a specialised hut which are located at various vantage points surrounding the arena where the artists will perform.

These judging huts can be seen in the diagram below with their locations denoted by letters (K, E, H, C, M, B, F and A).

  K   E   H

:JAM Jamaica vs Belize :BIZ

A C

F   B   M

Now it's time to see how the judges scored this contest :)

Round of 16

Saturday, July 31st 2020, 21:00 (GMT +1)

:GUI Guinea 0 vs 0  :BDI Burundi

Of course the part of allocating judges to matches is the more difficult, as we don't know which song belongs to which user, well of course Olympic IRL knows.

Someone has kindly offered to take over the duties since they have free time for the next period so I’ll let you know once I confirm with them all the information.

Thanks to all who have been willing to step in to help.

Just to update you all, @mrv86 has kindly volunteered to step in and take over the hosting duties

He will be involved in posting all of the results as well as organising the PMs to be sent out to everyone. From time to time, he might ask for help from some users in order to post the results, but @mrv86 is the only other user as of now who also knows the identity of all users behind each nation / song.

However, although he has also kindly offered to abstain from voting, I honestly think there is no need for that as it won't affect his impartiality so I will keep him in the pool of judges.

In the meantime, I need some help with figuring out how we breakdown the amount of judges for each stage.

There is a pool of 29 judges. The general idea is that judges will be excluded from voting in their own match as well as in the match involving the songs they could meet in the next round of the competition. Therefore in the semis and final, any judges who still have a song active in the contest will be excluded.

So any ideas on the breakdown (including repechages and the challenge trophy)?

The only additional criteria for the repechage is that just like in the group stage, judges cannot officiate in any match that involves a song that was from their group. This is the last round where this criteria will apply as there is no need for it when we go into the Round of 16 and beyond.

Also @dcro depending on the number of judges for each stage, would you be able to create another arena template like you did before showing the location of each judge? If not, it's fine, we could just scrap it if it is no longer practical.

Since there are two repechage matches, should each have 15 judges? This would mean that everyone will get to judge one match, except for one judge who will do both. 13 judges or less would mean that some would miss the repechage stage completely, which could be fine too I guess.

Rounds of 16 could have 11 judges per match. This would mean that everyone would be drafted for three matches, except for one judge again who will do four.

Quarterfinals could have 13 judges per match. 23 judges would be drafted for two matches each, while 6 of them will officiate one match only (these could be the ones still in competition).

Semifinals could again have 15 judges per match. Judges still in competition are fully excluded, leaving 25/26 eligible ones.

Finals opened for everyone.

For the Challenge Trophy (if held), we could be looking to just have 7 judges for each match? Including their quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

Very similar to what I had in mind :yes. I just wasn't sure how many we should use in the repechage. We have a pool of 28 judges in the repechage since one judge is out on the 2 criteria (one match features a song from their group and the other match involves the songs they would play in the next round).

So that leaves a neat 14 for each match. I guess if there is a tie in either match, we will do some sort of tie-break using the supplementary judging panel.

And any time where judges will judge an uneven amount of matches, I might call on judges whose song is already eliminated to judge the extra match to help keep them as involved as possible.

So then for the main competition:

Repechages: 2 matches, 14 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match each.

Round of 16: 8 matches, 11 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match each, 1 judge will officiate 4 matches.

Quarter-Finals: 4 matches, 13 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match. 23 out of the 29 judges on the panel will officiate 2 matches.

Semi-Finals: 2 matches, 15 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match, 5 judges will officiate 2 matches.

Medal Matches: 2 matches, 27 judges per match. Each judge will officiate in each match.

Challenge Trophy:

Round 1: 6 matches, 7 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match each, 13 judges will officiate 2 matches.

Quarter-Finals: 4 matches, 9 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match each, 7 judges will officiate 2 matches.

Semi-Finals: 2 matches, 13 judges per match. Each judge will officiate 1 match, 1 judge will officiate 2 matches.

Medal Matches: 2 matches, 27 judges per match. Each judge will officiate in each match.

Imagine if we had 14 judges instead and concluded the match with a 7:7, we could pretend that we're doing a penalty shoot out with 5 random, not participating users deciding how the match ends :p

And to make it even more and more complicated we could use 10 with every team having 5 "shots" and if they've voted against the team that they were affiliated, that would mean they didn't score that round :d

I know this won't happen, it's just been a while since I last wrote something on this thread :p

I like the penalty shoot-out idea. My twist had us using a fixed number of judges (say 10). If they can't decide the winner, then another 5 judges are called up and their votesare revealed penalty style. :d
