I believe there are no tapes, and even if there were, they'd be far too historically valuable to burn. Instead, since we know the destructive nature of humanity, they should be - if at all existent - kept safe in a high-security underground vault, the key of which should be thrown in the fiery depths of Mount Doom. Together with the tapes, out of security. If said tapes exist, that is. Which they don't.
