:SWE SHL, Finals, Game #1

The first game of the SHL ended with a win by the home team, despite the hosts started strong and looked in control of the situation in the first period.

But a slight defensive blackout was enough to give up the leading goal to Richard Gynge.

The second period was the exact opposite of the first, with the home team dominating the game, but giving away the tying goal to Rögle 1 minute before the second interval.

The third period was the closest one, with the fear of losing the match dominating the atmosphere.

However, the Lakers at least tried a bit more to establish their supremacy, and finally scored the game winner with about 10 mins still to be played thanks to Pontus Holmberg...

Rögle's reaction wasn't enough to tie the game once more, thanks also to the good performance by their goalie, Erik Källgren.

Game #2 is scheduled for next Monday, May 3rd at 8 p.m. local time (CET), once again in Växjö.

:GER DEL, Finals, Game #1

More final series around Europe...

Today it was the time for the German DEL to start their final act (which is only a best-of-3 series, so, it's gonna be fast and furious...and we'll know the name of the Champions already on Wednesday or at latest on Friday)...

This year's showdown is between Eisbären Berlin and Grizzlys Wolfsburg...

The guys from the Capital have the home field advantage thanks to a better finish in the regular season, but Wolfsburg didn't waste any time and overturned that already in game #1, taking a big win on the road in OT after a very tough battle and crazy last 5 mins, where most things happened (a 6-on-5 equalizer by Berlin with only 38 seconds to play included)...

The game winning goal came after 77:59 minutes of play thanks to Julian Melchiori.

Game #2 is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 5th at 7.15 p.m. local time (CET) in Wolfsburg.

:SUI NLA, Finals, Game #1

Tonight also the Swiss NLA started their Final Series (this year, only "best-of-5")...

The 2 teams involved are EV Zug, regular season winners with margin, and Genève-Servette, who were only 6th at the end of the RS, but found their best shape in the playoffs, so to eliminate Fribourg Gotteròn first and ZSC Lions then, always against the odds.

Game #1 was a really close and entertaining match, with the home side being a bit more effective and capable of finding the lone goal of this match thanks to a flashy start in the central period, after just 21 seconds from the start.

That goal was scored by Gregory Hoffmann.

any other chance for both teams has been denied by the outstanding performance by both goalies (Daniel Manzato for Genève and Leonardo genoni for Zug), definitely the best players on the ice tonight.

Game #2 is scheduled for next Wednesday, May 5th at 8 p.m. local time (CET) in Genève.

EV Zug - HC Genève-Servette 1-0 (series score: 1-0)

:SWE SHL, Finals, Game #2

Game #2, as expected, it was once again a close, tough battle...

Rögle strted strong as they did in game #1, but this time they didn't make any mistake and after only 4 mins of play they even took the lead thanks to adam Tambellini...

They managed to keep the advantage to the first interval, but in the second period Emil Pettersson scored the game-tying goal after Växjö increased their pace to try and get the hosts in trouble.

But the tie didn't last very long because at 15:11 of the second stint Leon Bristed scored the new go-ahead goal for Rögle on a rebound in front of the home goalie.

In the 3rd period, despite the effort of the home team, the hosts looked in control when suddenly at 3:34 Pontus Holmberg took advantage of a really bad mistake by the Rögle goaltender and tied the match once again.

Then, both teams started to be worried more about not making any further mistake than building true scoring chances and the obvious consequence was going to the OT.

In the OT, nothing special happened in the first minutes, until a shot from the blue line by Hardy Haman Aktell found a hole in Rögle's defence and ended in the top corner of their cage, giving them another win in the final series of the SHL.

Game #3 is scheduled for next Thursday, May 6th at 8 p.m. local time (CET) in Angelholm.
