I open this topic because it would be interesting to know what is happening in different countries in terms of arbitration and control of it or not by various football clubs.

In Greece the arbitration is determined / controlled by the national football federation which designates the central arbitration committee, which in turn rules the definitions of the referees in all matches. So virtually any football club that "controls" the president of the federation (who is elected by the football associations during the Olympic year) also has the arbitration supremacy.

 

So what is the status in your country?

We have a 'referee and arbitration committee' whose job is to select and maintain the level of referees.

 

In practice though, the guys at the committee are the ones who receives bribes from clubs or 'mafia' and orders the referees to do this and that. Very effective indeed.
