MHSN 3,163 Posted February 28, 2020 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2020 I can imagine Safwan Khalil is the only registered athlete for 58kg and most probably Malia Paseka for women's 67kg but I wonder who is that lucky girl for women's 49kg !? or ? MHSN 3,163 Posted February 29, 2020 #13 Share Posted February 29, 2020 Yes Malia Paseka was the only entry for 67kg and grabbed the free quota and of course Safwan Khalil won men's 58kg quota as expected but apparently nobody registered for 49kg ! which is weird because there were 3 girls in the preliminary list, two from and and other TGA/PNG athletes in the list showed up and finished the competition. I was reading the official document, can't see anything there about a situation like this. but I assume normally the quota should go to the next best athlete in the World Ranking which was Yvette Yong from Canada. This would be interesting, because Canada has entered someone else in the 49kg qualifier ... Would be a reprieve for Yong.

dcro 10,179 Posted February 29, 2020 #18 Share Posted February 29, 2020 To be fair, it's not an entirely free quota they get. Presumably they also need to pass the weigh in. #banbestmen
