:ITA Filippo Mondelli, one of the crew members of the Italian Quadruple Sculls -among the main pre-competition favourites in Tokyo, has to give up "professional" Rowing because of bone cancer (aggressive osteosarcoma)...

this is a really bad loss for our sport, but, more than anything, it's going to be a long and tough battle for him...good luck Filippo! :fingers:

If ever there is a moment for a team to win an Olympic medal..

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Not really new news but the Irish rowing team won't be competing at the European championships this year.

They're looking to compete in the first and third World Cup events and will attempt to qualify "one, or perhaps two, women’s boats" for the Olympics

Ireland has already qualified 4 boats of 7 rowers.

The womens 4 came close at the World Championships so the Lightweight pairs would be the other possible boat

They took an East German coach as soon as their regime went under? How very non suspicious. :p

You are acting as if that is some kind of secret ...

GB knew exactly what they were doing, it is no coincidence that they went from 1 gold and 15 medals in total at the 1996 olympics to 27 golds and 67 medals in total at the 2016 olympics.

The 2021 Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race will be held in the small but beautiful Cathedral town of Ely* near Cambridge, instead of the historic central London course.

*In the middle of England’s Dutch-style polder country.  The whole area was lakes & marshland prior to the 1850s.
