Alex Pedersen, director of the Grand Depart of the Tour 2021 tells that the dates of the Grand depart will not be changed (according to ASO). That means that they are still planning a Tour taking place 2nd-25th july, meaning that riders completing the Tour will by all means be out of the Olympics.

For once that could have some influence, considering the Olympic course is so mountaineous you'd expect strong climbers instead of one-day specialists.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

The course would be perfect for the Sagan of the mid-2010s. It’s a shame the Tour De France won’t budge because the Tokyo course does look epic. In fairness, I would have been okay with a repeat of the Tokyo 1964 finish too.

Not the only time the most prestigious competition doesn't budge for another one :p

They could move the road races to the end of the games...

It's just rather interesting that they were ready to do it this year but not in 2021. Can't decide if I'm happy about it or not. Makes it slightly easier for Copenhagen to host both the Euro and the Tour, but now I may have to chose between 3 days of Grand Depart or Roskilde Festival (though they do pass by pretty close to the festival when starting in Roskilde).

I highly doubt the Olympics will change their plans for the Tour de France, even though sometimes it's just smarter to move things along a bit for a more prestigious race in order to get a better field in your race.

Roskilde is there yearly, Grand Depart is definitely not. Go to the Grand Depart man.

But I don't really see me going for Roskilde much more than once or twice more. I would be pretty sad if I ended up with just one participation (and with a summer without anything, I could really be needing a comeback next year :p
