are Italy and Germany going to add some big names to their squads for the OG ? Belinelli, Hacket, Datome, Galinari ? btw Schroder was the main cheerleader in Split. what about him ?

Schroeder will become free agent this summer and declined a contract of 84 million for 4 years and hopes for more...

An injury at the Olympics would be a desaster for him, so the insurance is really expensive and the German baskeball did not want to pay...

On the other hand it seems that he wants to play, so in the end he could pay the insurance by himself to have the chance to compete at Olympics.

so it was because of players you mean not his quality as a coach

When you have dominant team, it's easier to be a good coach, it's that simple. Not everyone can do it even with the great team, so you have to have some knowledge obviosly. However, as the head coach his next adventures in Phoenix and Fenerbahce and now with Serbia have shown me he isn't that level. His teams looked like shit. Even with the bad team you have to avoid giving Italy 100 points at home. Even if you play against Efes you can't lose by 40pts when you have a team like Fenerbahce etc. I think he is a good development coach for younger players especialy guards but he lacks skill to be head coach especialy in motivating players to be at their best.

Turkey won but looked absolutely terrible against maybe the weakest team among all the tournaments.

Some crazy trivia: it was Uruguay's first official game against an european team since 1986 :yikes:and we're talking about a team that used to play WCs and olympics regularly for decades.

Another ugly Uruguayan trivia: we didn't host any international basketball between 2003 and 2017.
