Lol Thohir is such a disaster. He always said that Asian Games is a success and trying so hard to bid for 2032 without realizing the ticketing nightmare in the Asian Games and lack of suitable venues.

Couldn't trust most of the candidates though.

Well, Filomena Fortes just oversaw one of the most successfully organized African Multi-Sport events of all time, so at least she actually earned her spot.

Here's a bit of news you don't hear every day.

IOC member HRH Princess Haya is seeking asylum in Germany after running away from her husband in Dubai. Her husband, Sheikh Mohammed, 69, is vice-president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, as well as leader of the Emirate of Dubai. He has six wives and 23 children.

By the way I just get my old harddisk restored and found out that I have some of old Youtube videos of opening ceremony that has been deleted by IOC strikes..

Kinda relevant with thread title, which is a not-so-good news for IOC? :p

I hope this isn't inappropriate. I wanted to you know that I just published my book - "1964: The Greatest Year in the History of Japan - How the 1964 Olympics Symbolized Japan's Miraculous Rise from the Ashes."

If you want to understand the context for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics, you can learn about Japan's post-war history and why the 1964 Tokyo Games meant/means so much to the Japanese.

It doesn't say how to get the book though :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

August 9 is the 74th anniversary of the Nagasaki bombing. The 75th anniversary next year will fall on the final day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As I wrote two years ago, this is not a coincidence.

If I remember right Sir Peter Snell did the 800/1500m double and won both events to establish himself as one of the greatest middle distance runners in history. Absolute legend.

He did indeed. Here are my blog posts on the great Peter Snell.
