dcro 10,179 Posted August 21, 2016 #159 Share Posted August 21, 2016 Palau time Palau had reasonably successful games. 5 athletes competed in 4 sports. Medals were always impossible, but some decent results were achieved (for the first time in history a Palauan athlete advanced from first round, and that happened twice!). ATHLETICS Rodman Teltull advanced from preliminary round after winning his heat with 10.53 (only 0.01 outside of his own NR). In his quarterfinal race he finished 8th out of 9 with 10.64. CANOEING - SPRINT Marina Toribiong was the first Palauan kayaker at the Olympics. She competed in both women's K1 events and qualified for semfinals in 200m sprint. SWIMMING Shawn Dingilius-Wallace and Dirgulbai Misech competed in 50m races, finishing 72nd and 65th, respectively. Both of them broke national records. WRESTLING Florian Temengil competed at his second Olympics (first were in 2008). He was defeated by Hungarian wrestler Ligeti in the round of 16 via technical superiority. Temengil will be the Palauan flag bearer at the closing ceremony. #banbestmen
