Federer91 2,140 Posted January 18, 2019 #711 Share Posted January 18, 2019 A lot of the BDO players are trying in the Q-School this year. McGeeney and Jamie Hughes earned a Tour Card after the first 2 days. Durrant is also there, but had 2 early loses. I don't know if he was overconfident after the third Lakeside trophy.. Other notable names include Waites, Jim Williams, Dobromyslova, Ashton, Fallon Sherrock.

To be fair, the short format of things like Q-School makes chances of surprises a lot bigger, so it might have been a bit of bad luck (possibly combined with indeed some overconfidence). He made it though, just like 1960's figure Scott Baker, who made a hugely impressive effort against Durrant at Lakeside. There's also a Tour Card for 2008 PDC world champs runner up Kirk Shepherd and for Conan Whitehead, who played some brilliant darts on occassion this month at Lakeside. In the European Q-School among others Darius Labanauskas (beat Van Barneveld at PDC worlds) and José de Sousa (nearly a nine darter at PDC worlds) made it. Yeah, he had said that, but after the PL disaster in Rotterdam he was all "I'm gonna quit now" and "I don't give a fuck anymore about all this". The Dutch 'darts channel' started the funeral atmosphere and basically was already burying him, all media in the Netherlands came with big headlines, "Van Barneveld to retire with immediate effect", even the PDC threw out a tweet saying exactly that. Surprise surprise, then this came (tweeted by his manager): If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
