JoshMartini007 2,131 Posted July 31, 2018 #471 Share Posted July 31, 2018 That's one way to save around 100 athletes, I guess...
dcro 10,172 Posted July 31, 2018 #472 Share Posted July 31, 2018 3x3 basketball has an interesting quota place dedicated for universality. Only nations who haven't participated in basketball at the last two Olympics are eligible. Therefore, will all be excluded... AlFHg 330 Posted July 31, 2018 #473 Share Posted July 31, 2018 In women basketball there will be 1 tournament with 12 participants granting 5 places. Mah...
AlFHg 330 Posted July 31, 2018 #474 Share Posted July 31, 2018 And I've just seen that sadly world relays won't be considered for the olympic qualification.

dcro 10,172 Posted July 31, 2018 #476 Share Posted July 31, 2018 With this briliant IOC/IAAF movie, we will be looking to have a record number of nations with 1 (male) athlete. would all have had one male athlete at Rio Olympics had these rules been applied. And a whole bunch of nations would have had fewer female athletes (if any). But hey, now we have mixed gender relay. And surfing. mrv86 and Gianlu33 2 #banbestmen

The IAAF is likely upset with the IOC because they had to reduce their quotas.
Jur 486 Posted July 31, 2018 #480 Share Posted July 31, 2018 That's super sad... At least in swimming they still can do it, but men, athletics is more global than swimming... And sadly this would mean that a lot of woman would be left out, cause let's be clear, most of these poor countrys would rather have a men.
