phelps 6,795 Posted July 18, 2019 Author #51 Share Posted July 18, 2019 however, Berrè wasted a big chance against a not unstoppable Dolniceanu (and he definitely can't blame anybody other than himself), meanwhile Samele survived a tough battle against Danilenko... right now, Curatoli has a big margin over Rahbari... phelps 6,795 Posted July 18, 2019 Author #52 Share Posted July 18, 2019 and it's over...easy win for our no.1... so we have 2 guys left in the competition...but now it's when things get difficult...
phelps 6,795 Posted July 18, 2019 Author #53 Share Posted July 18, 2019 well, actually Curatoli has the chance of his life...now he has to face Sandro Bazadze, then the winner of Gordon vs Yoshida... if he misses out on a medal today, he should be kicked off from Budapest to Naples... in the meantime, the Korean armada already lost 2 of their men...Ha Han Sol and Kim Junho are out... Vektor 3,195 Posted July 18, 2019 #54 Share Posted July 18, 2019 Szatmári kinda saves the day for us so far, we still have 2 in Saber. It will be hard to get that individual medal in Saber after Szilágyi's early defeat that I think many expected from our athletes here.
MHSN 3,174 Posted July 18, 2019 #55 Share Posted July 18, 2019 only Abedini left for Round of 16 and it will be very hard for him vs Ibragimov. with Szilagyi and Homer out, it was like a dream draw for Pakdaman but he lost it in first round. he is not doing good recently. Rahbari had a good start but then once against he froze at some point in the match against Curatoli giving up 9 points in a row. Fotouhi also lost a 13-11 lead to Anstett. I know they are more focused on the team event, where they most probably will face China in Round of 16 which is something like a direct Olympic qualification match. but still the individual results also matter a lot. both Abedini and Pakdaman are now out of top 16 in the World. Vektor 3,195 Posted July 18, 2019 #58 Share Posted July 18, 2019 (edited) Only two Europeans in the Women's Epee QFs, and one of them is from Luxembourg. Edit: Three, not two. Edited July 18, 2019 by Vektor
OlympicsFan 782 Posted July 18, 2019 #59 Share Posted July 18, 2019 The girl from Luxembourg is having a once in a century competition for her standards, but Ndolo still wasted a huge chance here. With a medal she could have made a huge step towards Tokyo, but now she will almost need a miracle to qualify. The part between 7:8 and 9:13 was some of the worst fencing i have ever seen, she looked completely clueless against an opponent who looks like a hobby atlete (easily 20 pounds overweight). Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Abedini did it! he won 15-9 against Ibragimov and he's in the top 8...
