Are they going to add a new sport every week or what?

The EOC seems to be confirming each sports’ place in the program independently.

Football tennis has been somewhat popular in Poland (due to volleyball being uber-popular here) but I haven't heard about teqball at all before

Well it’s only been around since 2012, but it’s seen astronomical growth in the last 2-3 years. It’s been floated for inclusion at a couple multi-sports games now.

Here’s a video explaining the rules for those interested:

I think the local organizers/EOC are taking a different approach on building the sports program for these Games.

The Olympic sports that feature on the program will likely serve as Olympic qualifiers or European Championships (likely awarding a fair amount of points in Olympic rankings), meaning that the majority of the best European athletes in those sports will hopefully contest the Games. Likewise they are creating an intriguing program of non-Olympic sports that will likely help draw local attention/drive curiosity in the Games, that will almost certainly feature the best athletes in Europe.

Essentially, they are attempting to create a sports program that will drive interest in the Games and attract the best athletes in participating sports. I don’t think it’s a bad idea. It’s no secret that the European Games have struggled to gain notoriety, so this model is worth a try.

So it's basically a Football table tennis instead of football tennis. Great. Not exactly innovative, just following the same concept on a smaller playing field.

One would imagine Brazil would be good at this given their knack for football & volleyball at the same time. But of course Brazil can't take part in European Games so nevermind.

This teqball won't really create much interest in Poland due to football tennis being way more popular already. Then again, there are only few countries in the world where volleyball is as popular as here. Same goes for beach handball due to handball being the third most popular team sport in Poland. So the interest doesn't come curiosity but from volleyball and handball being fairly popular sports in Poland already.
