Roughly 2,5 hours until Burgos kicks off the team time trial that is stage 1 in Utrecht, time to get to the train station :cheer:

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

That was one amazing race and experience to be at :d

Gesink of all people having the leader's jersey was basically my biggest wish for the day :hyper:

Any surprises or observations you saw, which you didn't expect pre-start?

Not really, before we arrived I named five teams as top-5 with Jumbo as winner, UAE is the only top-5 team I didn't mention :p

It was cool to be standing right behind the finish and on the way to the hotseats, so many riders came close by. The party was real when Van Baarle and especially Gesink passed, I can hardly think of a rider who is both more popular, more down to earth and more of a fighter than Gesink has always been :cheer:

I kind of thought of also going to watch today's stage, since it finishes in Utrecht again (one hour by train) and it passes through Amersfoort (same train, but 45 minutes or so) which is where I work - or at least on the rare days I don't work at home. I definitely would have if it was a time trial or something, but the finish will be impossible to really see and in Amersfoort you'd lose half the day for literally 20 seconds of 'whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh' as the peloton passes by and that's it :p

Stage two is underway, the first protests are already announced and the first truck blocking the road has been sighted. Apparently that has already been kicked out of the way, and then there's going to be Extinction Rebellion somewhere - presumably at the 'Alto de Amerongse', which is the half Spanish name for the Amerongse Berg (mountain).

"Parque Nacional Dunas de Loonse y Drunense" :d

Love it how the Spanish make all these things sound so odd :d

Meanwhile there's a first attacking group, including Jetse Bol. Which is obvious, he already won a race at the Amerongse Berg when he was 14 years old, he will give everything to get the mountain point there.

Hmmm, what protests exactly? Environment again?
