Werloc 3,127 Posted July 27, 2019 #333 Share Posted July 27, 2019 (edited) Anyways, I promised you an update on the Lithuanian Championships and I think it's fair to say that it was one of the best championships for Lithuania with so many brilliant achievements. First and foremost, as it was already mentioned in the Olympic thread, Edis Matusevičius threw the javelin with the mark of 89.17. This is a new Lithuanian record by more than 4 metres, an Olympic qualifying mark as well as the 3rd best mark in the world right now. It was not the only record to fall, the women's hammer throw record from 2007 was already broken unoficially this year by two different women. Now, it is finally official as Agnė Lukoševičiūtė threw the hammer 60.48 and broke the old record by over 6 metres. Another historical result was Osvaldas Gedrimas in Pole Vault, jumping 5.00. It's been 28 years since the last time anybody from Lithuania jumped 5 metres. The long awaited battle between Dzindzaletaitė and Zagainova ended with Dzindzaletaitė winning by 8cm, although both jumped slightly less than 14 metres. On the first day, Adrijus Glebauskas jumped 2.28 in high jump, which pretty much solidified his quota to World Championships. Andrius Gudžius threw the discus with a mark of 67.73, slowly getting back on form after his injury. Ieva Zarankaitė threw a PB in the discus of 58.25 and qualified to the European Championships. Lastly, our 43yo veteran Indrė Jakubaitytė threw the javelin with a mark of 56.97, if she throws a bit further, she may qualify to the European Championships and I honestly don't even have a clue anymore how many she attented, she is a legend. With a distance like that, I'd say he is getting back in form rather quickly. Werloc 1 #banbestmen

Monzanator 3,594 Posted July 28, 2019 #338 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Some fact checks, it's the longest throw by an European outdoors since Ulf Timmermann's gold medal put in Seoul 1988 OG!!! (22,47) who also had 22,55 in February 1989 indoors. And that is that

ChandlerMne 622 Posted July 29, 2019 #340 Share Posted July 29, 2019 Now we have 6 shot putters who throwed 22+ in 2019 plus few of them who are near 22m. Probably best year for shot put in recent history.
