dullard 434 Posted April 6, 2022 #42 Share Posted April 6, 2022 Was really thinking Summer would improve her PB by more than that. Perhaps she isn't fully rested for trials.

Perhaps she isn't fully rested for trials. There is no real point in going even faster this early in the season. I'm sure she will win the 400 I'm but at a time that is more than her pb. As long as she qualifies for the World's.
NMQ 222 Posted April 6, 2022 #45 Share Posted April 6, 2022 She is still quite faster than Ledecky at the same age

I get the impression McIntosh's sweet spot is 200-400 like Titmus while Ledecky's is 800-1500.

Yeah, I was comparing with her time at trials that year (4:05.00), but she was about 5 months younger than Summer and would have been faster at the Olympics for sure. But she didn't swim it there and I still think McIntosh is a bit ahead in the progression for this event at least. Agree with the 200-400 sweet spot, at least on free, because her 400 IM and 200 fly seem even better.

dullard 434 Posted April 10, 2022 #50 Share Posted April 10, 2022 That 400 free from Galossi is Ian Thorpesque and Lukas Märtens' 3:41.60 in the 400 free was extremely impressive also. It's a shame Winnington choked so terribly in Tokyo because his window of opportunity for a global championship gold medal may now be closed.
