NMQ 222 Posted February 14, 2022 #21 Share Posted February 14, 2022 Katie Ledecky's first meet of 2022: 1:54.66 in 200 free (faster than Tokyo) 4:00.95 in 400 free (slower than Tokyo, but faster than any other non supersuited swim except Titmus and one Leah Smith swim) 8:11.83 in 800 free (faster than Tokyo... And anyone else in history, actually. Now owns the top 25 swims ever) 15:40.63 in 1500 free (slower than Tokyo, still faster than anyone else ever except Friis and Boyle) Also raced the 400 IM and did her 4th best personal time. Makedonas 1,571 Posted February 16, 2022 #22 Share Posted February 16, 2022 Also, the qualification process for aquatic sports for Paris 2024 would be such a mess if they go through with hosting World Aquatics Championships in both 2023 and 2024. Would they use the 2023 World Championships or 2024 for quotas? Or both?
dullard 413 Posted February 18, 2022 #23 Share Posted February 18, 2022 Kaylee McKeown opened her season with a 2:04.64 in 200 back today.
Makedonas 1,571 Posted February 26, 2022 #24 Share Posted February 26, 2022 2008-born Antonia Rakopoulou swam 1500 freestyle today in 16:54.70 to win the national winter championship. Her previous PB was 17:09.32. Greek women's swimming has almost always been extremely less successful than Greek men's swimming for some strange reason (and as our men keep improving year after year, our women keep declining), so it's nice to finally have a decent female prospect after many years. Especially since it would be hard to see Anna Ntountounaki sticking around much longer as she's already 26 years old. It would be interesting to see what her time would be at an event abroad with a higher level of competition. Obviously her time is nothing special but considering her age, one would expect her to make huge improvements each year for the next several years. I wonder how will be her program in the next major tournaments. She pretty much can swim every free event from 200 upwards, the two IMs, 200 butterfly... Crazy talent. intoronto 4,202 Posted March 5, 2022 #29 Share Posted March 5, 2022 Ben Titley's contract was not renewed by Swimming Canada (sounds like a money reason) Titley was the architect of Canada's team going through a reinesance. This is a huge loss. james89
NMQ 222 Posted March 5, 2022 #30 Share Posted March 5, 2022 Titmus already at 4:00.03 in the 400 free. After a post olympics extended break and first serious race of the year. That world record is in danger too this year. dullard
