Werloc 3,125 Posted June 17, 2022 #173 Share Posted June 17, 2022 Yesterday and today, we've held the Lithuanian u18 championship. 4 additional athletes qualified to the u18 ECH and we should have a team of probably 20 athletes there. The highlight of the competition was Rugilė Miklyčiūtė breaking the Lithuanian NR in Pole Vault that was standing since 2012. The new NR is 3.92 and it's the fifth best performance in the European U18 field so far. Rugilė is also the very first Lithuanian pole vaulter to ever qualify for an athletics championship in any age group, we were always hilariously bad in this event, especially in the women's field. Grassmarket 2,715 Posted June 20, 2022 #174 Share Posted June 20, 2022 Not often that anything Seb Coe says is worth listening to, but this is. Also interesting is that the FINA document has language in it that also seems to rule out mixed-sex competitors, but I’m not up enough on the science to do anything other than stare blankly at the screen. World Athletics president Lord Coe has hinted the sport could follow swimming in banning transgender women from elite female competitions, insisting "fairness is non-negotiable". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/61865789

Monzanator 3,569 Posted June 20, 2022 #176 Share Posted June 20, 2022 No-brainer. This multi-sport European Championships made no sense from the start and who knows how long that idea keeps going. Athletics is big enough it doesn't need to share the table with other sports. Makedonas
Swewi 285 Posted June 21, 2022 #177 Share Posted June 21, 2022 Kristian Ceh had taken over as the best discus thrower this season but Daniel Ståhl just took back the WL with 71.47 at the swedish club championship. Belle

Maybe they should have a multi-sport games? Perhaps you can call it the European Games? Makedonas
Jinzha 513 Posted June 21, 2022 #179 Share Posted June 21, 2022 European Championships U18 starting 4-8 July in Jerusalem. The Dutch team consists of 19 athletes in total. Four of them are 400m hurdlers. Wonder if that's some sort of early Bol effect already.
