Junior Boys Sprint is over.

Congrats to Grotian of :GER  with the win.  He missed 1 shot on his way to victory.  Local youth :EST Aolaid shot clean, but was 7 sec outside 6th place.  Yesterday winner Cisar missed two shots in the stand and ended up in 12th place.  De Santana :BRA shot well again, only missed twice.  I wish I could say the same for the US skiers.

Jugvic of Bosnia missed 9 shots, and only 3 shot clean, Aolaid, Kocain :CZE (15th) and Secu :CAN (87th!)

Single Mixed Relay looks to have been a good one.

1.  :RUS  0 + 10 - One of 8 teams who did not have a penalty loop.  Best shooting was :UKR who went 0 + 6 but without enough ski speed finished in 12th.  Top 10 teams were all within 1:15 of the Russians.

2.  :SUI Close to the lead, or leading the entire way, both Stalder and Baserga shot well.  Baserga did end up with 1 + 6, the penalty loop made the difference.  + 6.9

3.  :SWE  0 + 7 + 22.

Worst shooting performance was close between the Serbs 11+21 and the Bosnian team 15+23.  Despite shooting worse, the Bosnian team finished almost 4 min faster.

Next up Mixed Relay in a few hours.

Just now, justony said:

Wow, already a medal for Alex Cisar in junior level after succesful youth performances this winter.

And also nice 6th place with Vindišar at Single Mixed.

All do not pan out, but Cisar is one to keep tabs on for sure.  I hope he keeps working hard, and keeps his arc of progression.

An odd piece of news from Denmark:

Greenland teen a big biathlon hope
Norway, Sweden and Finland are light years ahead of Denmark when it comes to the biathlon, but a 17-year-old from Greenland could help bridge that gap in the near future. Ukaleq Slettemark won the women’s 10 km individual title at the recent 2019 Biathlon Junior World Championships in Slovakia, taking Greenland’s first ever medal in an international competition. Slettemark spent some of her formative years in Norway.

It sounds like Denmark might be making a play for Slettemark.

If a person or an athlete can be related to/with Denmark, that person is basically Danish. Greenland is part of the Danish Kingdom, but Slettemark got her skiing-education in Norway, which is a big reason that she can actually become a decent biathlete in the future.

Sidenote, up to the Oscars this year, the Danish medias had to mention every time that we sort of had a Danish actor nominated for Best Actor for his role in Green Book. Viggo Mortensen is born in USA. His father is Danish, but he only lived in Denmark for a short while. He has lived longer in Argentina, but I don't think Argentina claims he is Argentine.

Well, she won't compete for Greenland at the Olympics, so.. :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Her father competed for Denmark at the Olympics already. Greenland is Denmark's dependent territory. Likewise people from Faroe Islands would compete for Denmark at the Olympics as well. Or people from Macau for China.
