Not sure how you can say that right after Hermann lost bronze despite having a much better run than Bos. With the same material as Bos she would have won a medal. Also Taubitz threw away a safe gold. Germany very well could have two more medals in sliding sports at this point.

Neise came out of nowhere to win gold. If you made a list of the ten most likely people to win this contest she likely wouldn't be on it.

Even accounting for those two medals Germany is ahead of where you'd expect them to be based on world cup performances. In luge, even though Germany was favoured to win all the races was at least a minor surprise that Germany managed to win all of them and Germany was just not the favourite in either skeleton event.

Yeah, but the Cesana track is only out of order for 10 years? And you'll get the Cortina renovated for 2026?

The Cesana track was literally abandoned in 2011, while the Cortina track will be totally rebuilt (around 2024/25). Currently Italy trains in Igls, which is also much closer to Südtirol than Cesana and Cortina.

Three nations winning their first Skeleton medal (and first sliding medal period in all cases) is pretty extraordinary given only six medals are handed out (and Germany won half of them :P ).

Skeleton joins Alpine Skiing, freestyle skiing, short track speed skating and snowboarding as one of the few winter sport where four continents have won medals.

What an incredible waste of money that facility was.

Medals for the Netherlands and Australia? Sliding sports are saved!

Funny how some users dismissed Narracott's podium from St. Moritz in one of the other threads. Based in GB, I guess she sort of continues their women's skeleton medal streak. ;)

tbh, it was available for only 7/8 years, though...

most of our medals came well before it was built...

hopefully the renovated Cortina track would eventually give new life to our sliding sports, but it's still quite some time before it becomes available...
