Rumour has it we will withdraw from the team event (again).

While we are not exactly medal favorites, this is still one of literally two events where a medal is possible for us. Especially since we would face the United States in the first round. They rarely excel at this event and definitely appear beatable. Just another shameful decision by our ski federation.

Is there any other countries that could still qualify that haven't already?

Ghana, an outside chance, but could increase if they plan to fix results at this week's :CPV:JAM Championships (in which case those nations would qualify too for sure).

Looks like the FIS removed Azerbaijan from their alpine lists today.  Strange that they were on there in the first place if there is no one who meets the minimum standards.  The closest (I think) is Kostov who needs a couple more results.

What a joke.... rigged races allowing a 39 year old skier from Jamaica who has no business at the Olympics as cost :CAN a quota... never change FIS

You have to blame the Canadian Ski Federation for not properly evaluating the importance of the Cap Vert Nationals, though.

There must be something about musicians with a skiing hobby cheating their way to the Olympics. It couldn't be more obvious that they cheated, but since Vanessa Mae's defense set a precedent, they will keep getting away with it  FIS can only make their standards stricter.

Some miracle has happened: the Dutch NOC said Maarten Meiners can go to Beijing even though he did not meet the NOC's criteria of finishing top 16 twice or top 8 once in the World Cup. :yikes:

Meiners is still allowed to go to Beijing because he was disadvantaged in his preparation compared to the top countries because of the corona pandemic. The technical director of the Dutch Ski Association said that ski areas remained open only to their own, national teams. An equal opportunity for optimal preparation for this season was thus denied him.

Meiners managed to finish 25th in a World Cup race on the giant slalom once both last winter and in the current season.
