In sailing, Federico Waksman won the Mini Transat, a 6,000 km solo yacht race that crosses the Atlantic Ocean. In surfing, Julián Schweizer won the ALAS Tour at El Salvador. In athletics, Martín Cuestas won the San Felipe y Santiago, the premier 10 km road race in Montevideo, with 30'49. Carolina Lozano from Argentina won the women's race with 35'39. In futsal, the men's team won its group at the AMF World Cup with wins against Mexico, Canada and Bolivia. Tomorrow they will play quarter-finals against the United States. NaBUru38 205 Posted December 26, 2023 Author #183 Share Posted December 26, 2023 In judo, Henry Borges won the J1 60 kg event at the IBSA Tokyo Grand Prix, after defeating Mohamed Ben Ismail, Sukhbat Bayasgalan, Vitoon Kongsuk and Abdelkader Bouamer. Now he's 5th in the world rankings. In futsal, the men's team was runner-up at the AMF World Cup, as they defeated the United States 8-1 in quarter-finals, COlombia by penalty shootout in semifinals, and lost to Paraguay 6-1 in the final. In athletics, the national team claimed 29 gold medals at the South American Masters, placing 5th. in boxing, Gabriela Bouvier defeated Agustina Rojas at Punta del Este, and Maira Moneo defeated Lizbeth Crespo at the Luna Park in Buenos Aires. In athletics, ocilás Cuetas won the San Silvestre Vallecana 10km run in Madrid with 28'48. In basketball, Santiago Vescovi has scored 1.400 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists with the Tennessee Volunteers. In cycling, Mauricio Moreira has an infected bursitis in a leg after a minor fall during training. In sailing, Lola Moreira was 29th at the ILCA 6 World Championship in Mar del Plata. In swimming, the national team did poorly as expected at the World Championship in Doha. The best result was 21st by Nicole Frank at the 200 m medley. She also made B scores at the American Athletic Conference Championships. In surfing: Montoya Beach hosted the Río de la Plata Cup, organized by Lucas Madrid, with a Uruguay vs Argentina format (our neighbors won). Manantiales hosted a round of the WSL Longboard Qualifying Series. Ignacio Pignataro finished second in the men's event. In cycling, Cerro Largo rider Agustín Moreira won the Rutas de América road race for his second time. In athletics: Valentín Soca and Florencia Borelli won the San Fernando 10 km run in Punta del Este with 29'59 and 35'59 respectively. Santiago Catrofe got the national record in 10 km at Valencia with 28'06. The previous record had been set by Néstor García in 1999. Nicolás Cuestas got the national record in half marathon at Vila de Santa Pola, with 1:02'15. Uruguay got five medals at the South American Indoor Championship in Cochabamba. María Pía Fernández was gold in 800 m with the national record of 2'08.20, and silver in 1500 m with the national record of 4'27.48. The women's relay team was second in 4x400 m. Emiliano Lasa was silver in long jump with 8.00 m. Millie Díaz (first time I hear of her) was bronze in 60 m hurdles, getting the national record with 8.82 s. In handball, the men's national team was 5th at the South-Central Championship, with a single against Costa Rica and four losses. In futsal, the men's national team was 5th at the Copa América, with three wins against Peru and Bolivia and Chile, and two losses against Brazil and Argentina. In rugby sevens, the Teros finished 3rd at the Dubai Challenger. The Montevideo Challenger will be held in two weeks at the Estadio Charrúa.
