Grassmarket 2,749 Posted July 16, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2021 It’s a slow few weeks for sports in general at the moment so luckily the Summer Grand Prix season is here to give us all something to watch. Meet from Wisła this weekend. Luckily they are not going to do any more till the Olympics are over.
heywoodu 13,540 Posted September 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2021 Althaus is kinda dominating the COC in Oslo a tiny bit... Yesterday she won with the same sort of margin. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Monzanator 3,593 Posted October 8, 2021 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2021 Well, her last season was pretty bad already. Guess she figured out she's got no chance to win the gold so why bother.

Probably a smart decision though, it's always best to listen to one's own body even when you're an Olympic medal candidate. Monzanator 3,593 Posted January 16, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2022 44-year old Janne Ahonen (who basically retired three times over the years) finished 3rd in Finnish National Championships. Another example how far has fallen off the cliff in this sport.

The more shocking news here is that Janne Ahonen is only 44 I always thought he was older, partially because of his numerous retirements.
Monzanator 3,593 Posted March 13, 2022 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Alexander Pointner was quoted as telling the German media that he was in contact with Polish federation over a head coaching job. So it's basically official we are looking for a new coach and Michal Dolezal will be fired. Meanwhile the Slovenian women's HC Zoran Zupancic is leaving his post so that ought to suggest he might be in line for a better job.
Monzanator 3,593 Posted March 31, 2022 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2022 Thomas Thurnbichler has emerged as the leading candidate for the men's team HC post in Poland. He's probably best know for his "double jump" as a fore jumper in Bischofshofen 2003 (aged 13 back then).
