No Olympics for Deanna Stellato-Dudek, the fanciest of the fancy names. Keegan Messing and Roman Sadovsky will likely get the men's spots, Madeline Schizas will likely get the women's spot, Kirsten Moore-Towers / Michael Marinaro will likely get one of the pairs spots and Piper Gilles / Paul Poirier, Laurence Fournier-Beaudry / Nikolaj Sørensen and Marjorie Lajoie / Zachary Lagha will likely get the ice dance spots. The only remaining question is the second pairs spot. Vanessa James and Eric Radford withdrew before the long program and are petitioning for a spot. maestro
dcro 10,172 Posted January 9, 2022 #43 Share Posted January 9, 2022 This will fly under the radar, but Artur Dmitriev made a valiant attempt at quad axel at the U.S. Nationals. Would have been so random had he succeeded and become the very first person to do it in competition. maestro 1 #banbestmen

dcro 10,172 Posted January 9, 2022 #45 Share Posted January 9, 2022 Big drama in the men's singles. 17 year old Ilia Malinin finished ahead of two selection favorites - Jason Brown and Vincent Zhou. There is a chance however that he gets dismissed by the selection committee in favor of those two, what would of course cause a big controversy. Perhaps big enough for him to immediately switch nationalities to Uzbekistan (he is the son of one Tatiana Malinina)? #banbestmen
Illya 386 Posted January 9, 2022 #46 Share Posted January 9, 2022 Ilia (oh , he is my namesake) was too confident , too solid . Such a good performance , but stupid USA-counsil may reject him , it will be a shame

NearPup 2,095 Posted January 11, 2022 #48 Share Posted January 11, 2022 I don’t think it makes any sense for anyone going to the Olympics to compete at Europeans (or four continents). It’s too late to risk a positive test.
dcro 10,172 Posted January 13, 2022 #49 Share Posted January 13, 2022 Oh oh. Disaster result for Van Zundert. Dutch NOC is probably already cancelling her visa. ahjfcshfghb, Dennis and NearPup 1 2 #banbestmen
ahjfcshfghb 280 Posted January 13, 2022 #50 Share Posted January 13, 2022 Both Trusova and Scherbakova had beautiful programs... but I can't help but feel the PCS is way overscored. Especially with the mistakes.
