I'm surprised also. If Brazil manages to win any medal in WAG, I will be more than happy.

Final Standing available here.
titicow
juliosilva
Dunadan
Very good day for Brazil as @juliosilva and @titicow ended 1-2 at the Miscellaneous Events at the World Aquatics Championships 2017 contest. Staying at the top of the podium for 7 of the 10 contest's days, juliosilva had a performance so strong that wasn't even necessary to score a single point in the last two events. Similarly, titicow stayed at the podium for most of the contest, winning the silver medal in a close battle with bronze medallist @Dunadan.
As usual, also a very strong showing by the italians, placing 3 users among the top 6. In fact, the only user who managed to break the brazilian-italian domination was @mrv86, coming in fourth with the biggest number of perfect predictions of the contest with 3 (tied with dcro, juliosilva and titicow). Rounding up the top 10, @George_D, @dcro and @Dolby had very good moments throughout the tournament.
Congrats to me (I guess) for my TB question answer (05:04:03), which was the closest to the actual winning time of the Men's 25km Open Water event (5:02:46), but ultimately that meant absolutely nothing. Thanks all users for the participation and @tuniscof for allowing me to manage this contest (hope to do some more in the future).
Now please stand up for the national anthem of Brazil!

No, that was Fernanda Gentil, she has come a loooong way since then
Anyway, the embarrassing moment, if anyone is curious:

I think most people expected more, actually. But good result overall.

That wasn't the question, though. I think it was "are you upset?" after 6th place in home Olympics
I agree his answer it was unacceptable, but maybe the reporter could have asked in a different way. He apologized right after, but the damage was already done.

Maybe, but sometimes the reporters from SporTV asks really stupid questions

People pointing fingers and
What a shock. No one would ever believe she has choosen swimming, of all sports, to help her in dealing with asthma. Huge, huge surprise.
In all honesty, though, it's funny that we have supporters here for convicted cheater Efimova, while Medeiros is getting the side eye.

Wow, Brazil is on freaking fire (well not literally since there's snow in Brazil, but you know, 1-2-3-kind of on fire )

The fight goes on between 'team mates' Sharon van Rouwendaal and Aurelie Muller. Last year Muller got DQ'ed at the Olympics for pushing one of the Italian women under water, followed by Van Rouwendaal winning gold, which lead to frustrated Muller not speaking a single word to her (they train together with Philippe Lucas) for a year. This time at the 5km, Muller pushed Van Rouwendaal and Cunha in the fight for 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but this time it didn't lead to a DQ for Muller. To use Van Rouwendaal's exact words: "It's never going to be alright between us anymore, what an incredible bitch she is."

Gotta love a good rivalry.

Because we were waiting for some of the start lists, we could only open this thread today.
For this same reason, we'll ignore the preliminaries tomorrow (Friday), meaning you have until Saturday (10:00 GMT +2) to post your predictions

This has been a tough week for me. Some of you may have noticed that I have a picture of my dog, Benny, on my profile page. In fact when I was on the old forum, I had a photo of Benny as my avatar. I am very sad to tell you that this week I had to make the very tough decision of letting Benny go.
He was injured a few weeks ago in a car accident and he suffered an injury to his back. He was given medication and rest and I was hoping and praying that he would be able to recover. As the second week passed it became clear that Benny was not progressing and a decision would have to be made. One more week but it was no good.
He was made as comfortable as possible after his accident but I hard to make the awful decision of deciding that it was best to let him go. I am heartbroken and as much as I tried to distract myself for the last couple of weeks, it didn't prepare me for having to say goodbye . I am sorry if I have not replied to any messages and have not been updating any threads these last few days. I will be back on top of things soon.
Here is a couple of pics to share with you of my lovely Benny.... he was a wonderful and loyal friend.

As many of you know, the World League finals will be played at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, one of the World Cup stadiums. The arena received a friendly match last year, which was a huge success (now they'll have seats closer to the action, like in World Championship 2014). While most of the matches have an "okay" schedule (at 15h00 and 17h00 local time), the final will be played at 23h00 (!). At least it will be in a Saturday, but I do hope Brazil reaches the final, otherwise I don't see many people wanting to watch someting like France vs Serbia this late. Oh, and aparently @hukbrazil will watch some matches there

Some of you people, go spout your closed-minded effusions in a politics forum. Some of you seem to have a bigger need to talk about that than sports.
