  1. Fantastic 6th place Well done Nicole ! Congrats!
  2. Ganong grabs win in gnarly Garmisch downhill For the first time, an American racer won the Kandahar downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GER), and it is Squaw Valley’s Travis Ganong. Norway’s Kjetil Jansrud finishes in second, while Italy’s Peter Fill takes third place in the replacement race from Wengen (SUI). The Kandahar course was relentless. Covered in dark shadows, the men were challenged to ski technical sections and handle the changing terrain as well as the demanding jumps. More than one athlete was helicoptered off the hill, falling victim to the mountain’s might. It’s exactly the type of slope that played to the winner’s strengths. The American was behind Jansrud at every split until the last 23 seconds of the course, where he skied from a 0.47 second deficit in the third split to a 0.38 second lead in the finish. Ganong’s success makes a lot of sense when you consider his knack for tackling dark, shadowy slopes. His only other World Cup win was in Santa Caterina, Italy, in 2014, which is an equally challenging venue. More familiar to the World Cup podium is Jansrud, who has been in the mix six times this season in three different disciplines. This result puts Jansrud in the lead in the men’s downhill standings with 202 points, eking out a three-point lead over the day’s third-place finisher, Fill. The Italian, who won the 2016 World Cup downhill globe, has had one other downhill podium finish this season, earning second place in Val d’Isere. He was not completely satisfied with his run, especially his mistake in the lower part, though he was happy to be on the podium. American Downhiller Steven Nyman was one of the athletes helicoptered off the hill after crashing into the fence. He suffered a knee injury and will be out the rest of the season. Frenchman Valentin Giraud Moine, who earned second place in the downhill at Kitzbuehel, last week, was also evacuated after taking a devastating fall and sliding into the fence. There is no word yet as to the extent of his injuries. French fellow Guillermo Fayed skied down, but he hit his knee and is likely to sit out the rest of the season as well. The men race another downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Saturday, which will start at 12.00 CET. Full Results Here Travis Ganong
  3. Amazing performance of Nicole absolute careers result
  4. Rukajarvi and Smits mount Seiser Alm throne Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) and Seppe Smits (BEL), who both had earned the first ever slopestyle world championships title back in 2011, have claimed victory in today's third slopestyle competition of the 2016-17 season which was staged at Seiser Alm (ITA) under a blue bird sky. It was the first time that the Italian resort hosted a snowboard World Cup event. Facing perfect conditions in a well-designed course of the award-winning Snowpark nestling in the South Tyrolean Resort, Rukajarvi kept the momentum of her last weekend's LAAX OPEN triumph securing back-to-back wins by posting the high score of 81.70 in a close women's three run, best on count final of the top-6 qualifiers. The 2014 Olympic silver medallist landed a lipslide, 50-50 backside 360 out and a front blunt 270 out in the jibbing section before going into a frontside 360 melon, backside 540 indy and cab 720 mute over the jumps to take home her third World Cup win. “So far, I'm really surprised. It's hard to believe to have back-to-back wins under my belt. It's cool. I'm really happy,” she said before also explaining why she was absent from the contest scene since the Sochi Olympic Winter Games. “I have been competing for many years now. At some point I just did too many contests. I took a break of that, and now it's fun to do contests again.” Laurie Blouin (CAN; 80.50) finished second and locked in her career's second World Cup podium by edging off Swiss Sina Candrian (80.40) to third with the tiny mere of 0.10. “Today was just crazy. It's been the best contest I have ever ridden in in regards of the conditions. And it's been a very high level of riding. It's cool to see that because the girls are pushing each other. I'm really happy,” stated Blouin whose run had included cab double cork 900 while Candrian had been the sole female to stomp a frontside 1080 in the women's finals. The rise of the flatlanders In the men's event which saw ten riders going for the win, things were also getting pretty tight with Seppe Smits earning his career's third but first in slopestyle with a score of 88.30 relegating British style machine Jamie Nicholls (87.90) to the second rank. Smits threw down a backside lipslide to fakie, cab 180 backside 360 out and backside 270 in the rail section before going into the kicker line with a frontside 900 mute to a huge cab 1260 stalefish and a backside 1260 mute to finish things off. It was a run which had took some time to be put together Smits admitted after his first ever slopestyle World Cup tirumph: “I'm very satisfied with today's results. I was kind of feeling it today after the first days of practise had been a bit hard for me. So I switched up everything, figured out a good run to do and I managed to land it in my first run. I'm pretty hyped.” Jamie Nicholls, who had pulled out of the Kreischberg World Cup two weeks ago therefore missing some action in the race for the Crystal Globe, was more than satisfied with his outcome. But not only because he finally got rid of the knee brace today. “It's amazing. The whole practice went so well, and I landed my run every time. In the finals I messed it up twice. But in the third run of the finals I finally landed it. So, I'm really happy.” With Sebbe de Buck (BEL, 85.75) – the third ever Belgian rider to step on a World Cup podium – rounding out the podium as third and Billy Morgan (GBR, 84.40) placing fourth, it was not only a great outing for the two countries known for their dry and indoor slopes but also the best result in World Cup history for riders from the flatlands. On top of that, it was the first time in history, that two Belgians climbed the podium together with de Buck celebrating his career's first top-3 result. The snowboard freestyle World Cup tour continues next week with both, a halfpipe and slopestyle competition slated to take place in Mammoth Mountain (USA) from February 1 to 4, 2017. 5. Rydzek beats Frenzel by a foot's breadth in Seefeld A photo finish had to decide the victory on the first day of the Nordic Combined TRIPLE in Seefeld. Johannes Rydzek made sensation reality and beat "Mr. Seefeld" Eric Frenzel by half a foot or "my shoe size 44 over Eric's 42" in the end. Samuel Costa captured his career-first individual podium, finishing 6.8 seconds behind Rydzek. In the jumping round, Berhard Gruber from Austria delighted the audience with another one of his „Berni-bombs“. A fantastic jump of 107 metres gave him the intermediate lead going out on the track. Italian jumping sensation Samuel Costa jumped to the second rank with 106 metres and a point total of 137.5 points put him four seconds behind Gruber on the track. Eric Frenzel had 102 metres to show for but in more difficult conditions, this just put him only eleven seconds behind the leader Gruber. Local hero David Pommer held the fourth position at the start of the race and together with Johannes Rydzek on rank five, he went out at the 18/19 second mark. In the race, these five athletes quickly formed a leading group, after Gruber and Costa took it easy on the first of two 2.5 km loops. On the flat part leading to the last ascent of the second 2.5 km loop, Rydzek and Frenzel went away from the three other athletes, so it became apparent that the fight for the victory would only be between these two athletes. Rydzek tried to go away on the uphill but Frenzel wasn’t having any of this and so the fight was taken all the way to the finish line. In the end, it was just a couple of centimetres that decided the winner: Johannes Rydzek. Behind the two Germans, Samuel Costa skied a courageous last lap and held David Pommer behind him, taking his career-first podium in the process. Pommer will not be too unhappy, taking a career-best result in his hometown of all places at the same time. Akito Watabe battled down Bernhard Gruber for the fifth position. The rest of the Top Ten spots were taken up by Fabian Rießle, Ilkka Herola, Manuel Faißt and Jan Schmid. Full Results Here

  7. Terrible moments for the Israeli Daniel Samohin He lost his luggages with his skates They didn´t find them, so the organizers lent him a new pair, but ofc this is a huge disadvantage and it was visible he couldn´t even skate decently, not questions about jumps, true sport tragedy for the junior world champion... but still he beat our athlete

Poliaková is still very slow, in her case her only chance for a relatively decent result is a perfect shooting, each loop cost her a ton of places down...unfortunately it´s a whole season problem
  11. and even worst for Giraud-Moine doesn´t look good at all

  19. yes I saw it in the replay pitty, wasn´t a good performance, there were too many mistakes, but surely only because of stage fright. nevermind, it´s just their debut, there is clearly a potential. they gained new experiences and next time it will be better.
