Well, The communism we had here was really very bad. No doubts. It was something, well, hard to explain to someone who hadn't experienced it. No freedom, my grandfather was in prison just because he refused to join the party. Subsequently, the whole family suffered, my mother had to leave (was expulsed from) the university and was obliged to an inferior job despite the fact she never did anything bad she was just denyied to earn diploma. it was a bad time, people were oppressed. arrested and torturred on a daily basis if you was not agreeing with the regime. it is necessary to realize that freedom is not a matter of course.

On the other hand, certainly not everything is basically wrong, everyone had a job (had mandatory to work) Health and education was free etc.. But overall it was bad and sad. Prohibition to travel, prohibition of freedom of speech, prohibition to form any other party or group. prohibition of religion. extreme censorship, empty shops, bananas were just for "Christmas or the end of year holidays like there were called at these times" and even everyone could only buy two or three pieces . But especially no freedom. All peoples were always followed by the party, and if someone in the family managed somehow to emigrate to the west, it was a complete disaster for the rest of their family. Thank God, these times are long gone.
 
But ofc this was the communism we had here, totalitarian communism under USSR control. and THAT was the wrong thing.

Incredible amount of Slovaks living abroad were flying last couple of days back home to vote in the Saturdays parliamentary elections
 
Also the absolute record of 86 000 !!! Slovak citizens who are currently abroad have asked to vote by post. Many our athletes for example already announced they will vote by mail to help the country (among the most famous Petra Vlhová, Peter Sagan or Marián Vajda Djokovic´s coach and many others !

Saturday´s elections are maybe the most important elections in all our history since the independence in 1993. Saturday will show which direction Slovakia will choose !
 
Strong ! Strong strong determination is to feel everywhere right now to finally kick out from the government the thieving gang from the ruling Smer-SD party linked to the mafia and oligarchs.  And also not to allow the fucking neo-Nazis brainwashed dickheads to get into government.

I seriously love these pictograms now . This is what I expected/wanted from Tokyo 2020. There’s a lot of unique ways they could use these in broadcast. If it wasn’t for the damn coronavirus, I’d be beyond hyped for the games right (I’m still very hyped let it be known).

Something about this song (sung by any singer) brings me back to it in times of need. I don’t know Macedonian/Bulgarian, and don’t have any connection to that area. However, this song has continually got me through life’s troubles, and I find myself listening to it again tonight. The lyrics are very curious. On one hand it’s sad reflection on death, on the other hand it feels like the beginning of life. I didn’t want to post this in the music thread becuase it means more to me personally than any of the songs in there ever will. I thought I’d share though, since it’s been so good to me.

I ran two times Wings for Life in Ljubljana, my friend (Vid Senica) even won Slovenian race, and for award he went next year to Florida. Sadly Ljubljana was cancelled, if there is no car to chase you, just plain app run is a bit boring and without any meaning. 

We lost a member of my planning group. We had just celebrated passing 400 members when the news broke. Apparently he was hit by a car while he was out on a run. Now, we’re trying to help his widow figure out how to get the money back from the tickets, to how to sell them, and it’s just so depressing. It just underlines how lucky those of us able to attend the games are 

Man, this turned into the US National Thread real quick . We may be a divided nation, but today we learned that we share a love of Dick Pound.

There’s too many variables to really through around theories like that right. I’ve maintained that we need to see where the world is in April/May.
