Plus, when I think of three sports (or at least tow (Bowling and Racquetball)) that are dominated by Pan American nations, I think of Bowling and Racquetball (and kind of Squash). Our nations have prospered in those sports because of their inclusion in the games. It’s just sad

Having a global virus canceling The Olympics doesn't seem like such a bad idea.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Old white men dominate politics in the world

Since Paris 2024 is the 100 year anniversary of those games, I think it should last 3 months as well

I also think it’s a right for every nation to be able to send 1 man and 1 woman conversely.

Yeah, IOC talks big about gender equality, and then in between such statements they approve IAAF's qualification system. Qualification system that only allows one universality place per nation. Not one per gender, like it was a practice for years, but one in total. That's literally setting up a number of nations to have only a single athlete in Tokyo.

Most of the early Games were lengthy  affairs. As late as 1924, the Paris Games lasted nearly three months. Many of the competitors would have had to endure lengthy sea journeys to attend so I guess a longer games made it seem more worthwhile. In 1928, Amsterdam managed to deliver the Games in two weeks and that seems to have stuck pretty much ever since.

The only way the "at least 1 man and 1 woman" rule will work is if nations are allowed to have at least 1 man and 1 woman in athletics.

Several nations will likely end with having only one athlete at the 2020 Olympics.

Because the objective is obviously to symbolize "gender parity". You can't have that with an uneven number like 3 (unless you happen to have an hermaphrodite or something). And I think it gets a bit difficult to hold a flag pole while walking with more than 3 people.

Considering it also was only the third ever Winter YOG, that's hardly noteworthy  But a good thing, of course.

I think Tokyo's Olympic skateboarding competitions might be the best watched Olympic skateboarding competitions in history. You know, if it happens.

I also suggest a man and a woman can only walk side by side. If there is an uneven number of representatives of both sex's, the odd one should be deported to their home country immediately!

Oh yes, we even have streets named after FDR in Poland which you might find amusing. He sure gained all the applause from the post-market crash recovery in the 30s. This being said, Yalta Conference was his worst moment, he struck down British Empire but laid a foundation for the Iron Curtain.

PS. If FDR was still alive in the summer of 1945 I'd say you don't drop the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima. That was Truman's no-nonsence hardball. The biggest what if for me is what if Truman was there in Yalta rather than FDR. He'd probably see through Stalin's bullshit one way or another.

To be honest, this shows that Biden is indeed the best candidate. His numbers are impressive in 2 of Bernie’s key demographics: Very liberals and Independents. Even in young people, his numbers are not that bad, second best behind Bernie.

Same happens in India. If you are in line by deadline, you get to vote. In practice, you can show up at polling booth even after deadline, as long as polling booth is active and vote.

That’s optimistic. California results won’t be known for a week of two. That’s because we prioritize counting votes, and making sure people get to vote, over giving the media shit to talk about. California has the best election system in the US, it just isn’t quick because we care about it.

Right, but I also do think the hosts of those games/events should be punished for having a better date. I’m also not a fan of an Olympics not held during the Olympiad. I also maintain my viewpoint that there’s no reason this virus should disrupt the games.

It would most likely just cost too much though. The financial pressure on Tokyo/Japan to keep the whole thing up for another full year is huge.

This is more of a reason to NOT move it to 2021 than to move it to 2021
