Federer91 got a reaction from Roamingrover86 in Boxing IOC Olympic Qualifier 1 2024
BG Team has been announced for the qualifier:
Men
Radoslav Rosenov (63.5 kg) Rami Kiwan (71 kg) Kristiyan Nikolov (80 kg) Yordan Hernandez Morejon (+92 kg)
Women
Zlatislava Chukanova (50 kg) Aslahan Mehmedova (60 kg) Joana Nwamerue (66 kg) (she is actually Bulgarian btw )
We already have quotas in M 57kg, W 54kg and W 57kg. The absent weights without a boxer are M 51kg, M 92kg and W 75kg. While for the two heavyweights it was expected, as we don't have anyone relevant there, M 51 was a surprise. Looks like our guy is injured and they will keep him for the final qualifier.

Federer91 got a reaction from Makedonas in Men's Basketball FIBA EuroBasket 2025
Amazing fought victory for us against the World Champions Germany! Granted Germany played with probably their 3rd team, but the win was crucial in our chances for the qualification. The atmosphere in this arena brings something extra to our unknown players. It will go down in our recent history, just like the win against France in 2018 and that legendary win against Latvia after 2 extra times in 2020.

Federer91 got a reaction from Josh in Alpine Skiing FIS World Cup 2023 - 2024
I f'n hate, hate this World Cup season.. What a shit show. If people aren't fired, beginning with Waldner, for the full season fiasco, then FIS are morons. Can't properly structure and organize their most important tour..

Good to see, that FIBA have made a proper logistical desicion in choosing hosts, which are close neighbouring countries like Finland, Latvia, Poland and of course............. Cyprus

Federer91 got a reaction from Makedonas in Wrestling UWW European Championships 2024
Wrestling is the prime example of nation swapping. Like how many Russians we have in each weight, 40-50%... The rules are just to easy. If you want to jump hop nations there should be 5-6 year non-compete clause.

Federer91 got a reaction from konig in Weightlifting Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
If you have thinking, that it's been a year without scandals in Bulgarian weightlifting, fear no more..
So, after a couple of attempts, including one stripped hosting 2 years ago, we are finally going to host the European Weightlifting Championships in February. It is of course included in the Olympic qualification calendar. All good so far.
But on Friday, an adviser working for the Ministry of Sports was arrested for bribing the President of the weightlifting federation. He was asking for 30 k Euros from the President, so that the Ministry approves the funding of 600 k Euros for hosting the Euro Championships. This worker turned out to be the son of the National team coach. The next day, the coach himself - Ivan Ivanov, Olympic Champion 92, 4 times World Champion, was also arrested in suspicion of being an accomplice to his son..
The same National coach who has been on the helm for over a decade now and who the Federation have tried removing a few times in the past years. But every time the proposal of a new coach was brought up, almost all of the weightlifters, including Karlos Nasar, have said that they would boycott the National team, if Ivanov was not the coach.
Given, that we have our biggest boom in the past 20 years, i'm not denying the work being done by Ivanov, but his relationship with the Federation was always very iffy. Not that those guys are some saints, not by any means, but you can never guess who's in the right. Let's see how things develop and if any charged will be pressed against him.

Federer91 got a reaction from Josh in Weightlifting EWF European Championships 2024
Wow, i totally ignored Bozhidar Andreev in my initial prognosis, as his head wasn't focused in the past 1-2 years, but damn 73kg is one of closest weights at the Euro and he dominated. Haven't seen him so strong and confident in years. An European record in the C&J and a total of 348 kg, which jumps him up to number 3 in the rankings.

This is not going to be the Championships of Italy. First Imperio, now Magistris make a zero in the Snatch.

Federer91 got a reaction from Jinzha in Volleyball 2024 Discussion Thread
Someone at FIVB finally got it right. That stupid core team protection discrimination is out! Still, adding 2 more teams will give an extra buffer for their "important markets", but having the relegation on sporting merit is of course a thousand percent better.
There will be no relegation in this years VNL and the 2 extra teams for 2025 will be the Challenger Cup winner and the highest placed team from the Rankings not already in the league.
The 3 week regular season with 12 games per team overall remains, but their will be 3 hosts of 6 teams each week. And they have scheduled a bit longer break for relaxation, with a whole free week in the middle, plus a one week later start, which should give them a few days more after the club championships end.

Great start to the Euro for us at 55 kg. Angel Rusev with his 4th title, even though there was a scare with his shoulder in the Snatch. He pushed through and with one good lift in the CJ got the win.
Lots of guys had trouble in the CJ, which led to a very surprising bronze to our young athlete Zarkov. His entry was for 7-9th place, but was the only one with 6 good lifts and gets his first medal at a big event.

Of course, this was the toughest group by far. But luck of the draw is "part of the game". It has played a factor in much bigger events and tournaments and changed the trajectory of athletes / teams career.

Of course they can, this happens regularly in volleyball, football and countless other sports. Anything that isn't single elimination brings opportunities for future bracket tampering.
