tuniscof reacted to Olympian1010 in [OFF TOPIC] Fantasy Games Thread
Tokyo 2020 is offering two different Fantasy/Prediction contests in their Fanzone, and so I’ve gone ahead and set up leagues for Totallympics users. You’ll need to create an “Olympic ID” to play (this is your olympics.com account for use at the Olympic Channel and in interactive zones such as this, it is completely free). I recommend using your Totallympics username as your Olympic ID username (if possible), so that we can identify you more easily. Here’s a link to the fanzone home page: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/
The first contest is known as “Fantasy.” Here’s a link to the home page for the contest, where you can join the Totallympics league: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/olympic-fantasy/. You should be able to begin selecting your team members in about 8 days, make sure to read the contest rules. Use the following code to join our league: 3HK4YMTY
The second contest is known as “Brackets.” Here’s a link to the home page for the contest, where you can join the Totallympics league: https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/en/fanzone/olympic-bracket-challenge/. Again, you should be able to begin making your predictions in about 8 days, make sure to read the contest rules. KTEDNARJ
I’ve tagged some users that might be interested in playing below, but any Totallympics users are welcome to play of course!

Perfect prediction for Slovakia - Spain and right score for Sweden - Poland, 3-2, but I predicted Poland scoring 3 goals, not Sweden

With the men's ice hockey world championships currently under way and two big football continental championships, Euro 2020 and Copa America, soon starting, it would be have been too much for me with an extra prediction contest in this period. I'm already busy with studying for my exams and preparing entry lists for 6 Olympics prediction contest. My calendar is quite full at the moment.

tuniscof reacted to Wumo in [PREDICTION CONTESTS] Discussion Thread
Hey tuniscof
I'm really sorry not to have updated the suggested contests calendar in some time as it seems that is the one you have been following. For the future, the suggested contests calendar is only provisional. During the year, many contests can be moved and many of them listed in the section will not happen. The calendar, where you can see winners and participants numbers, will always be the official one. Dates and contests there are the ones that will be contested, of course unless a change happens shortly before start, like postponement or cancellation. Already the women's ice hockey IIHF world championship have been moved from April to May, as shown in the calendar. The calendar is the official one, the suggested contests are only provisional. I also do my best to tag everybody who has participated in a contest this year when I open a new one about a week before the first matches/events, so users can be noticed in advance.

The Prediction Contests calendar has been updated with these three contests:
Figure Skating ISU World Championships 2021 - 24-28 March
Women's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2021 - 7-17 April
Men's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2021 - 21 May - 6 June
Maybe an extra prediction contest will be added in this period. But that is a maybe.

Speedy Herberth10 George_D
The second and the first winter sports prediction contest of this season has now reached its conclusion. It was a close competition for the medals, but the three medallists are @Speedy, @Herberth10, @George_D. Big congratulation to all three of you.
On top of the podium was @Speedy. With only one of the two perfect predictions in the contest and only one day with 0 points, the road to a gold medal was paved. A well-deserved gold medal. Congrats!
For the second time this season, Brazil secures a silver medal. This time it was @Herberth10. Solid predictions throughout the contest with only one day with 0 points, the silver medal was deserved. Congrats with the silver medal.
The last medallist is our Greek predictor, @George_D. For many days he was just outside the podium, but with Kristoffersen's bronze medal in the Men's Slalom and by winning a couple silver medals to break the tie with 4-placed, @juliosilva, he secured the last spot on the podium. Congratulation with the bronze medal.
Some honourable mentions go to @juliosilva with the unfortunate 4th place. Only losing due to the tie-break rules. So close to winning his second medal this year already. @hckošice ended 5th, but was 2nd before the last day. He was the second predictor who got a perfect prediction, but also many days with no points. A place just outside the top 3 for the Slovak. Lastly a great 6th place for @Kirkpatrick. The predictor with most gold medals, 5 in total, but he was just a couple of points shy of winning a medal overall.
Lastly, thank you to all who participated in this prediction contests. A busy February is in full swing with now the Alpine Skiing WCHs and the Biathlon WCHs prediction contests completed. This week a new prediction contest will start. The Nordic Skiing FIS World Championships 2021 prediction contest will have its first medal events on Thursday, the 25th. Don't forget to make your predictions before the deadline, February 25th, 12:15 (GMT +1).
That's all from me, your prediction contest manager, Wumo.

toulousain Monzanator Agger
The third prediction contest of this season has now been contested. Yet again it was three predictors, @toulousain, @Monzanator, @Agger, who all won their first medal in 2021. Big congratulation to all three medallists.
One of last season top predictors, @toulousain, is back on top of the podium. With one of three perfect predictions, the French predictor secured himself yet another gold medal to his Totallympics Prediction Contests collection. A huge congratulation with the gold medal!
Poland secured their second medal here in February with @Monzanator getting the silver medal. Like toulousain, Monzanator was one of the few with a perfect prediction. He was very close to winning a medal in the Men's Handball WCH prediction contest earlier this year. With now his first medal of 2021, he is looking to once again competing for one of the top spots overall. Congrats with the silver medal.
As the predictor with the most correct predicted gold medallists @Agger secured a bronze medal and a 3rd place in the overall standing. The Danish predictor had a great 2020 in Totallympics Prediction Contests. Maybe this the first of many for the Dane this season. Congratulation with the bronze medal.
Here are some honourable mentions. Firstly, a big congratulation with the 4th place to @Gianlu33. Not far from medal fro the Italian predictor, but the 4th place is just outside the prestigious medals. However a very good contest overall for him. In 5th place comes @tuniscof, The last of the predictors besides the top 2 who scored a perfect prediction. He took a big jump up the standing in the last days and got himself a noteworthy 5th place. The last honourable mention goes to anfamiliar name here in the start of 2021. Once again a top place for @juliosilva with a 6th place in the final standing. If he continues to get these great results, his chances to claim a podium spot overall for 2021 are good.
Lastly, thank you to all who participated in this prediction contests. One prediction contest left in February and then it's on to March. In the prediction contest poll for March, the short track speed skating WCHs and the figure skating WCHs ended with equal votes. I will make a decision this week which contest it will be. The prediction contest calendar will be updated soon with the prediction contests for the upcoming months.
That's all from me, your prediction contest manager, Wumo.

As there are many contests running simultaneously, it would be an appreciated help for me and the rest of the prediction group. It would ease some of the workload during the Olympics.
You are always welcome to send me a personal message if you are interested to join the Prediction Group. We can always need some help.

Breaking news
We interrupt this ceremony for a troubling reason: one of the national jurors has just had the audacity to ask where the vegetables are 'in all this', whereas another dared to suggest there could be olives inside the bitterballen. This is fine, but the president of the 2020 Totallympics Open International Song Contest Host Delegation insisted on a sudden recount and possible redistribution of all the votes.

Anyone waiting for a snack?
During the proceedings of tonight, all those present will be enjoying a light snack which has been a staple of Dutch festivities for ages: the bitterbal, a meaty little fried snack. Not to worry, they're not actually bitter at all, the name comes from a very strong alcoholic drink - a bitter - which in earlier times was often accompanied by these snacks.
The insides of bitterballen are generally very hot, so take care not to burn your mouth when biting into one a tad too enthusiastically. The inside is made with a mix of several kinds of meat, which has been made into a sort of very thick stew, while the outside is a crunchy and also very tasty crust. They're generally served with mustard and we'll make sure to have a good amount of bowls ready for everyone!
The inside of a bitterbal will not always look exactly the same, but the general idea is that it's meaty...not to worry, there's plenty more!

Opening act - Caro Emerald
Caro Emerald brought TISC to the Netherlands for the very first time when she took the win in Denmark a year ago, today she has come down to Apeldoorn to perform for everyone and throw back a little to that wonderful night in Odense!
Miss Emerald does of course have a bit more to offer, we'll see her back in action in a little bit!
