The great Abdulrashid Sadulaev picked up the 3rd defeat of his career today in Aliev tournament in Russia. but before people get too much excited I have to say that was a walkover defeat he reached the final but didn't wrestle Magomed Ibragimov (Russian-Uzbek) in the final. Russian coaches claim because of a small injury
obviously the Russian tank is NOT in his best days. he struggled in that tournament against wrestlers he usually eats for the breakfast. he lost to Kyle Snyder in 2017 World Final mostly because he was too small for this weight at the time. yesterday I saw him "beatable" for the first time since 2017. at the moment his gold in Tokyo is not a sure thing anymore.

Finally, we are competing at the World stage. We have not been lucky enough to watch our Golden generations live. Dhanraj Pillay, Dileep Tirkey, Sardar Singh and so many others gave us hope only for us to falter. Still remember the way we missed out on Semis in 2000 due to last minute goal by Poland. The heartbreak of not even qualifying in 2008. The ignominy of finishing last in 2012. The so near yet so far of 2016. Finally, we are in Olympic semis. I know, we have not won a medal yet and there is a chance we won’t win a medal this time but by God this feels special. Suddenly all the shooting and Archery misses seem trivial. Thank you Manpreet Singh and team. Thank you Graham Reid. Thank you God.

This is too good not to pass on.
If they are going to use video game music the athletes ought to have to jump between platforms and occasionally grab a spinning diamond as they move along.

*Indian at the Tokyo Olympics ……..6 days to Olympics ……….post 5 of 10 by nitin sanker*
Reaching halfway point here , these post are taking time ( a couple of hrs of research ) do let me know if you have them useful and share them in other groups
We have looked at 3 out of the 8 medal possible sports of India and Today we look at *Athletics*
This is the blue riband sport in the Olympics which gets the maximum viewership, A sport with a huge number of 48 events ( this divided into track , field and road events ) , it has made famous names like Jesse owens , Usain bolt , Carl Lewis, Abebe Bikila and so many great names
India has participated in athletics in 1900 with 2 silvers on the name of Norman Prichard , since then we have not won a single medal though came agonizingly close with *Milkha Singh , PT Usha* who both finished 4th and the *Gurbachan Singh Randhawa and Anju George* who finished 5th . Let us look at our chances in athletics this time . we have a squad of 26 participating in 14 events ( out of 48 ) . Lets look at the medal prospects . we have only two
*Javelin* - Neeraj Chopra is the best athlete we have had since Anju George , In 2016 he won the world under 20 world championship gold medal , he has been a commonwealth and Asian Gold medal and comes into the Olympics as 4th best on 2021 leading scores . his is an event where gold will almost undoubtedly go to Vetter of Germany who is well above the rest and there are many who have a personal best higher than Neeraj , but javelin is a sport where athletes rarely reach their personal best at the Olympics , Neeraj both has the big game temperament and has been consistent this year , if he throws close to 90 he will probably get a medal ( personal best of 88.07 which he has done in 2021) . So a *Likely*
*womens discus* - Kamalpreet Kaur , this lady has been in great form breaking the NR fairly often , she comes in ranked 6th in 2021 , but we have to see whether she can replicate that in a big event , as she has shot up the ranks fairly fast . Well not likely but a *possible*
While we have only two prospects let us look at other who can reach the finals and that itself is a good achievement , every games we have had the rare privilege to see an Indian name in the atheletics in a final. This happens usually in just 1-2 events . This time besides the above two . tejinder toor in mens shotput , racewalkers in 20KM in both men and women ( there is no finals here so I would look for a 10th place or above finish ) , Annu Rani in womens javelin , the mens 4*400 and the mixed 4*400 may give us a position in the finals . *If we get more than 3 finalists* ( we had a max of 3 at the london olympics )that by itself would be a sign of improvement ( I feel that is almost sure , I am hoping for around 5 finalists). *Medal prediction 0-1 at tokyo*

Apparently the rules were changed and you can only enter one team per event except those countries that won spots at the worlds. They can enter 2.

nitinsanker got a reaction from Adriano in Archery at the Summer Olympic Games 2020
Indian fans are deeply suspicious of the archery team as they have regularly under performed at the Olympics
We will be having a presence in 4 out of 5 events .....
The fabulously talented Deepika Kumari in women's individual she is on a very hot streak winning two world cups this year
Deepika and her husband atanu in the mixed pair .....they are ranked 4th in the world ....
Men's team who enter as reigning silver medallist s at the world championships
Atanu Das , Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai in men's individual
Every indian sports fan is praying that this time we break the jinx and win our first Olympic medal in archery

My prediction based on current world ranking status
Most likely to medal at least 9 medals from this group ( based on world rankings ) at least 50% probability so 9 medals from this
sport event name world ranking 1 shooting 10m pistol pair india1 1 2 shooting 50m3positions aishwarya singh tomar 1 3 shooting 10m pistol yeshashwani 1 4 shooting 25m pistol rahi sarnobhat 1 5 Boxing 52 kg Amit 1 6 wrestling 53kg kg Free Vinesh 1 7 archery recurve women deepika kumari 1 8 shooting 10m pistol saurabh chaudhary 2 9 shooting 10m pistol manu 2 10 shooting 25m pistol manu bhaker 2 11 wrestling 65 kg Free Bajrang 2 12 shooting 10m rifle pair india1 3 13 shooting 10m pistol abhishek verma 3 14 Boxing 51 kg Mary Kom 3 15 Boxing 69 kg Lovlina 3 16 wrestling 57 kg free Ravi 3 17 wrestling 57 kg free anshu 3 18 weightlifting womens 49 kg mirabai chanu 4
and then from this group at least 25% probability . so possibly 4 medals
sport event name ranking 1 archery recurve mixed India 4 2 Hockey Mens team Mens team 4 3 shooting 10m pistol pair india2 5 4 shooting 10m rifle divyansh panwar 6 5 archery recurve women India 6 6 Badminton women singles PV Sindhu 7 7 wrestling 86kg Free Deepak Punia 8 8 shooting 10m rifle pair india1 9 9 shooting 50m3positions sanjeev Rajput 9 10 shooting 10m rifle anjum mudgil 9 11 archery recurve men atanu das 9 12 Hockey womens team womens team 9 13 Badminton Mens Doubles Chirag and satwik 10 14 shooting 10m rifle deepak kumar 10 15 archery recurve men India 10
TOTAL - Likely medal tally 12-15medals ...........................................MInimum 7 ( with Rio kind of luck ) ........ Maximum 20 ( with london kind of luck )

in my opinion...... The excuse given by the CWG is ridiculous .......
They could not hold a shooting championship in South England as they did not have facilities ....Sounds ridculous ... while they could do it manchester , glasgow , edinborough , london, bisley etc etc ....... the biusley venue is just an hour and a half away ..... ( closer than the cycling venue )
This is clearly aimed at an unsportsmanlike thwarting of sports they do badly at ( and India does wellat ) .........
Personally I think that the Birmingham team are a pack of cheaters ....... and should be called out for what they are ....... I am glad Indians called them out for this .......

nitinsanker reacted to Olympian1010 in Commonwealth Games 2022
The thing is, shooting has been on the Commonwealth Games program longer than a quite a few of the core sports. It’s omission as core sport raises some questions, especially since the core sports program was recently reworked. It might not be the most well known Olympic sport, but shooting enjoys a high participation rate at both the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. For instance, all had entries in shooting, when they didn’t even have entries in many of the core sports. Also, with electronic scoring, compelling finals format, and good graphics, it’s not too hard to follow in-person or on television.

"India is the worst performing nations in the CWG" well as per last chart we were third and above Canada .......
Rank CGA Gold Silver Bronze Total 1 Australia (AUS)* 80 59 59 198 2 England (ENG) 45 45 46 136 3 India (IND) 26 20 20 66 4 Canada (CAN) 15 40 27 82
so if we are the worst performing , Canada ??
I personally think that to cut shooting was a clear strategy of the big three to cut india down to size .......

nitinsanker got a reaction from NearPup in Wrestling UWW Asian Olympic Games Qualifier 2021
Let us look at tomorrows womens qualifiers
My take .......
50 kg : 5 only ..... The top place would definately go to susaki of Jap ...... A double world champ ....I am suprised to see her here ....
I would give the second to indias seema n this field maybe the mongolian tsogt would also be a contender ....
But seema for me is definitely a strong quota prospect
53 kgs : tatyana in the upper draw and aktenge of uzb in the lower draw
The 57 : the upper draw definitely Anshu from India
And mongolian in the lower
The 62 : upper draw definately sukhegin of MON ... A world gold medallist again suprising to see her here
Lower draw - Sonam looks the one to beat ....China always have a strong team and long jia could upset sonam but I will say Sonam
68 : upper draw CHN and KAZ both have really good players....edge to KAZ
Lower draw : all the three are relatively unknown but will give the edge to UZB as she had beaten the indian in junior asians and Kor has been weak
76 : 5 relatively unknown wrestlers so very open ...but still may prefer Aiperi of KGZ and second either of IND or MGL ...
