And not just in Poland.   Gymnastics legend Max Whitlock will retire after Paris.  Cannot tell you how unlikely a British Olympic Gold Medallist in Gymnastics seemed back in the 70s and 80s, but he got there.

I think I'm beginning to come round to the idea that Bird is on the team - I'm currently sitting at 31 and that includes Bird, Anderson, Cox, Hanlon, Guy and Peters.

Depends on how expected you think. The only one that has probably exceeded expectations thus far has been Bird. Dean was fine tonight but nothing special. Others (Brooker, Adam, Williams, Mildred etc) have been outperformed by others. Very few of the Bath swimmers have matched their seedings thus far.

Juniors across the board have been on pretty good form today, posting some impressive drops to their PBs. 

A number of the evening sessions are sold out which is really positive, alongside the TV pick ups from BBC and C4.

Given that the women's 200m free is in the same session as the men's 200m free, the latter is likely to distract people from other events that evening, at least from a British point of view.

I'd also point out that Eve Muirhead won precisely 0 world medals in the Beijing Olympic cycle ... but yeah sure, Scottish curling is going so far backwards.

I think  era of doing well in swimming will end soon. Because of the funding issues 4-5 medals or more is needed in Paris and I am not sure that is coming. Being in primetime will add the pressure as well (Same for Athletics)  - a shame for swimming that the finals in 2016 and 2021 were in the middle of the night UK time.
