ahjfcshfghb reacted to hckošice in Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022
yeah, that will be simply devastating. A total blank, emptiness a national disaster that will be really difficult to overcome.
yeah I think something like that yes, or maybe something like in Basketball this year or failing to qualify for last WC in Russia..and probably even more painful

The most reliable press agency of the world the american AP presented the medal predictions for the Olympics
They predicted 4 medals to Slovakia, all in canoe sports, 3 in Canoe Slalom and 1 in Canoe Sprint
however...
it has a small...
problem...
actually 2 of them are from athletes
Peter Kauzer and Eva Tercelj

South Sudan's track and field team has been stuck in Japan since late 2019 after the Olympics got postponed due to Covid. The locals crowd funded their stay.

So WA changed some things around according to this: https://www.worldathletics.org/competitions/olympic-games/the-xxxii-olympic-games-athletics-7132391/athletes?urlSlug=the-xxxii-olympic-games-athletics-7132391&competitionGroup=olympic-games&disciplineCode=&sexCode=&countryCode=
is now on men's 800. in women's 1500, in womens 400 hurdles, and in men's 1500, in 110 hurdles.
doesn't have a female listed anymore, and is still in 100m.
I don't know if any other changes where made.

Just read news that FINA is investigating swimming federation for fake results to favor the home swimmers. According to the source - Czech news. It says that meeting in November and April have been partially manipulated. According to FINA one swimmer provided some proofs including bribery offer and documents with the real results ....
Well, well, well..... This is going to be interesting??

I'm not sure this is a story we would cover unless it's really blatant corruption (vs. just a disputed selection process) but if Joanne/Sameh wants to reach out to the content editor with a pitch for a story, they definitely can. http://aroundtherings.com/site/303/About-Us/Contact-Us If they do I'll let the editors know.

Well, I guess most of them is used to it by this point. It's sad, but it's not a big surprise. But that's definitely a major failure from Japan – as @nenadsaid, it's unbelievable how a country so rich and so developed could basically fuck up vaccinations so much.

@dcro @Jur @Makedonas @JoshMartini007 @LowerSaxony I'm thinking of writing a story about World Athletics denying non-100m athletes universality spots... people deserve to know about it. If anyone knows of any other cases where athletes were denied spots and replaced by sprinters, please let me know! So far we have Tyrone Smith (long jump) and Gopi Chandra Parki (marathon), but I bet there could be more.
In the 100m start lists, eight athletes I found are specialized in other events, according to World Athletics records.
Women: (400m/800m), (triple jump), (100m hurdles), (400m hurdles) Men: (5000m/10000m), (1500m), (110m hurdles), (800m/1500m) -

I've said this like 100 times already, but the Armenian girl used to be a Greek triple jumper. She switched to Armenia a few weeks ago (probably has distant Armenian roots based on her surname and the fact that many Armenians settled in Greece after the Armenian Genocide), then ran her first 100m a week and a half ago.
It seems like all she wanted was to get an Olympic chance, hence the switch to Armenia and probably at that point she was willing to do 100m. No way was she going to decide not to go to Tokyo simply because she couldn't get into her preferred event after she already switched to Armenia (presumably only for the Olympic chance). With Greece she never would've had a chance of getting a universality spot.

@ahjfcshfghb the guy from is a long jumper, who has also competed in the sprints in the past. My gut tells me he asked for a long jump entry, but was given a 100m entry instead. I can’t confirm this, but this is something you could look into.
I’d absolutely recommend pushing that story ATR’s way.

WA doesn't make sense at all. I just found the case of D'Jamila TAVARES (a not-so-good 3000stp athlete) given an universiality quota in 800m when the country has a much better long jumper in Agate DE SOUSA that also is a 11.81 sprinter (much better than most of the girls that got universiality quotas)......
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE....

I must’ve had two heart attacks. Incredible how the Czechs collapsed in the last minute and then bounced back. All the momentum should’ve been with Canada but they overcame!
