Yes! And her shooting is also showing signs of improvement. It used to be around 50%, and she only had 1+6 for 4 shootings!

I doubt USA sent anywhere near their best college players
Just for fun I looked at their roster and took one example: Cassandra Dunne plays at Penn State University, yet on PSU's website she's not even listed in the team roster so maybe she's not even in the 'main team' there or something...apart from that, the college season doesn't stop for the Universiade, so I'm guessing colleges want to keep their best players.

Athletes in the rooms are greeted with a nice big Almaty Photo Guide, a ton of Universiade stuff and....a nice and detailed Coca Cola bottle
And yes, this means Team Brazil has arrived...it's almost 6am, but they arrived

but lol in 1994 the pool C teams was Slovakia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and only 1 year before 1993 also Latvia you can immagine the feelings of all other countries to suddenly got all this bunch of opponents in their divisions
Anyway at least there was a great lobby work from our president and ice hockey federation + old stars which worked very hard and succesfully got the invitation for us to play the Lillehammer qualification (which we thankfully won) and organize the C pool WCh at home (which we won) and next year again to organize the B pool WCh (which we won) again at Home and in the minimum possible time of 2 years advanced to the top dividons in all mens categories.

Well, "Kazakhstan No. 1" coach is also something to be mentioned.

So far he's quite behind in points. Would be great to see him perform.
By the way Uganda's the only country to have participated in the Winter Paralympics but not Olympics. Fun fact

Three days and three hours until the opening ceremony and not even a sign of any athletes' profiles or any sort of somewhat detailed information on the official website...this is getting rather shameful...

You're a godsend. Without you I'd be watching on datacenter lmao
Intersting how they didn't broadcast the World Cup. Guess the Australian Open has its ways.

Just heard Bruna (Moura) will be Brazil's only participant in Almaty, meaning she'll carry the Brazilian flag at the opening ceremony and I'm already as proud as can be just by the thought of it

The Afghans will also participate in the upcoming Winter Universiade, as their guy wrote to me when I e-mailed them about the Universiade (he also sent me 'warm greetings from Afghanistan, dear friend', so, go Afghanistan!)

Just an update on Puerto Rico
Emailed the ski federation and they said:
Thank you for your e-mail.
At this time, it is unlikely that we will be sending any athletes to the OWG in 2018; however, that situation may change in the coming months.
It has to do with the Puerto Rico Olympic Committee’s staunch refusal to send any athletes to the OWG since 2002, when certain members of our bobsled team were determined to be ineligible to participate for Puerto Rico. We are working to resolve this issue, as the people responsible for that scandal have not been involved with winter sports in Puerto Rico for many years.
So maybe a ray of hope there.

Also emailed a few other federations, South Africa said "there are 4 athletes trying to qualify, it is up to us to decide who to send", Tonga said "they are working tirelessly to get the athletes there", Tajikistan said "yes of course we will send our athletes" (even though none are qualified) and the guy from Nepal asked "Do you have any suggestions?"
