Here's a possibly helpful guide to which debuting/returning/otherwise unlikely (unsure of qualification) countries we may see and how likely it is we'll see them:
(Estimates are my own. Only countries with currently active athletes registered with their respective bodies are included.)

One out of Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco will bid for the 2025 world championships. Whatever happens, that should 100% be Kenya, no doubt about it. At all.

Nigeria's bobsleigh women are #42 in the world rankings. Go up 2 places and they get an automatic place reserved for Africa

I guess I'll carry the Czech flag for this one. Dont live there or follow their music much, but I like this song quite a bit.

If I stand on ski, they're probably gonna break (not seriously, but you get the point)
I have no ties to Brazil. On the biggest Dutch forum at every Olympics we have a thread where we support small or exotic nations (like I opened here for the 2016 Olympics), with 2010 being the first time I was on the forum at the Olympics. Since my then girlfriend is Brazilian, I chose Brazil and since then I've been sort of following their winter athletes
Then in 2014 obviously I chose Brazil again and had some contact with Leandro Ribela, a year later I wrote an article about him and his project which he put on his Facebook page, followed by a certain Bruna (who was at the Raubichi biathlon YJWCH at that time, her first ever international competition) sending me a message on Facebook asking if I'm an athlete (haha) or a fan It all got more and more from there

Good point Problem with that though is I'd rather buy one thing and stick with it as much as possible. Money is quite limited, and I don't own rollerskates of my own.
Also good luck learning classic technique like that... oh god. Maybe I can become like the Montenegrins and only ski freestyle lol
Guess for now I'll just go to the gym, I have a membership which is paid for anyway.

OK, I've seen enough. I'm getting my Israeli citizenship (because my grandfather is Jewish) and applying to join their World Championship ski team as soon as possible.

How about this for the Montenegrin team. Out of 15 active skiers, 10 have surname Bulatović and come from the same club Trebaljevo.

Oh, I see. Well, it will be exciting when they are released.
I want to dub this the "Trek to Tokyo" (in the same vain as Road to Rio and Path to PyeongChang) but is that to cheesy?

ahjfcshfghb reacted to Werloc in Biathlon 2016 - 2017 Discussion Thread
Well, that's fairly sad. Koukalova and Kuzmina out after the Olympics, there is a huge possibility that Kaisa will be out also and I don't think that Domracheva is going to stick around for too long either. Not many people left to challenge Dahlmeier, though I think she's going to have a short career just like Neuner, because 11 world championship medals in two years might make her bored.
Looking at the post Olympic season, it seems that the Italian and the French teams are going to be very strong, Preuss is very promissing if she fixes her health issues, Merkushyna seems like she is growing up to be a star. Still, there will always be a void in my heart when Kaisa Makarainen quits

Hope for an early start number to see her start and for a late number to see her finish basically
That's the good thing about mass start events, they show every finisher (at least at the Universiade they did). This start lis is one of the most anticipated things for me this season by the way. I have absolutely no idea what to expect, and like I told her yesterday, right now I'd say she has anything from 5% to 80% chance to qualify for the main race because it's just completely impossible to know who will be in that qualifying race
