Finally, a bit of nice news from the Brazilian team can be shared

Last season they were coached by Tobias Torgersen, the coach of the Swedish IBU Cup team, He went to Poland's women's team however (sadly, but deserved), and long story short: Brazil needed a new coach and place to train instead of with Torgersen with Östersund as 'base' in Europe.

Well, they found it, and a nice one it is! Together with the Australian team, Brazil will set up base camp in Livigno, Italy, where they will have the fantastic opportunity to have specialist shooting trainers, skiing trainers, technique trainers, a specialist waxman (in fact, he went to five Olympics as waxman of the Italian team), a ton of available equipment and facilities and everything....basically, they're making a huge step in terms of professionalism!

Luca Bormolini (the ex-biathlete, older brother of the more succesful Thomas Bormolini) will be the new coach

At last night's talk show, we were shown that the Netherlands can still go to the World Cup and being eliminated means nothing
    They had several good options.

Option 1 - Pretend to be Belgians
    1. When Belgium goes to Russia, their bus will drive via Prague, as shown in the spoiler below
    2. Near Prague, there's a tunnel, where one is always in a traffic jam, and that's our chance;
    3. We hijack the bus, put on some Belgian clothes and ride on to the World Cup
    4. Work on the accent and nobody will figure it out

    Option 2 - Remove Iceland
    1. After some checking, it turns out Iceland is actually an island and has no physical connection to any large land mass
    2. This makes way to the option of attaching Iceland to some big boats and pulling it away
    3. Pull Iceland all the way to Florida so it's part of the US and, since the US didn't qualify, a spot in the World Cup has now opened up!

    Option 3 - Kiss Russia's ass
    1. Next year, the Netherlands will be in the UN Security Council, which opens up this entire option
    2. We'll promise to vote for whatever the Russians vote for if they let us go to the World Cup

Option 4 - We grab that World Cup
    1. We're going to the World Cup Final and we're going to take the Cup
    2. They always place the World Cup close to the field, which is our chance, since we've all bought tickets for the final
    3. Rafael van der Vaart will act as a distraction for the fans
    4. Arjen Robben is really fast. He'll dress up as a fan and outrun everyone to grab the Cup
    5. Once we've got the Cup, a gold-painted Wesley Sneijder will be put down there as a disguise for the Cup, so nobody will notice the back switcheroo

And that is how the Netherlands might be elimited, but is not even close to being out of the World Cup

Yay !! The team LuLu did it !

This is just awesome ! Huge congrats Lucie and Lukáš ! I´m so happy for them, especially Lukáš who missed Sochi with Federica Testa just by few and after all problems last year and a absolute restart with new partner Lucie Myslivečková who had the same problems in her previous career, they both finally managed to reach their dreams.

Quite sad for them. Thought they'd done enough. Great to see  and ! I watched the Slovak skaters (Mysliveckova is Czech actually!) and I have to say I really like them. I don't know, they always look like they're having lots of fun on the ice.

He ensured ending in the top half of his first senior competition... I could not ask for a ticket to Olympics, but this performance is great for Mexican ice skating

Telemark is different. If I recall what I saw on German TV during the winters correctly, they start in parallel gates, do some sort of parallel slalom and then a bit of XC to the finish with some curves and stuff.

Also what y'all can do is share the link to the Egyptian Sports Ministry page on Facebook: @EGMoYouth. 'Share' and then 'To page'. If we can put it on the website we can also get a link we can email it with.

    An update on :
Helmy Elsaeed the cross country skier is trying to establish an Egyptian Ski federation. Apparently it never officially existed and the Egyptian who previously participated had dual US citizenship, so could go through them without national quotas (at the time none existed). The rules of Egypt's Ministry of Sport are that multiple clubs have to play a sport before a federation can be established. Helmy is the only skier, so is trying to get exceptions. He also said he might try to participate as an Independent Olympic Athlete (though I doubt the FIS will let him get points like that). Point is he has to get Egypt accepted by the Autumn meetings in October 3rd-7th as the preliminary entry deadline is on the 9th. If he can manage that he'll probably qualify. From what I've seen he's a capable enough skier.

It is also confirmed at the Short Track World Cup in Budapest we will see ,  ,  and . Think North Korea in particular has a decent chance to qualify.
Other nations there that haven't qualified for Pyeongchang yet are ,  and .
No ,  or . Thailand should be at the Asian World Cups in November as they were last year. Latter two odds are slimmer but possible, Qatar has an athlete who got 4 seconds off qualifying time a year ago, far better than their athletes at the Asian Winter Games. Indonesia as mentioned already has athletes qualified.

UPDATE: The Indonesian athletes have scheduled a meeting with the federation on Thursday. So far it seems the federation is considering sending them to the short track WCs in Shanghai/Seoul. Very interesting! If they pull off a Bradbury type result even the Olympics would be possible.

Apparently they approved the Dominican Republic at this year's 'spring meeting' and they have an 'autumn meeting' in October so maybe Jordan will be approved there?

Hope all is well and thanks for your email. Indeed we currently have a skier (Suhail Azzam) working on qualification for Winter Olympic 2018, he's one of the 2 Jordanian athletes who participated in the Sapporo Asian Winter Games. Jordan is also in the process of registering with FIS (Skiing International Federation). I have cc'd members of our committee for winter sports, media team and Suhail himself on this email so you can get more information.   He has been dedicated to training for the last month and a half and should be training for another 2 months until he starts competition in December. His main issue will be time as he will have to log a low enough FIS total before the deadline in January.   Jordan has never qualified for non-exibition Winter Olympic sport, so this gives him an edge and with no others from Jordan attempting to qualify if he improves slightly between now and competition he should have a 40-50% chance of qualification. Will keep you updated once he completes his first competition.   Please note that we are also working to grow our scouting for Jordanians around the world who have the potential of participating in the Youth Olympic Games 2020 and Winter Olympics 2022.      Best Regards,

So maybe alpine skiing. Based on the AWG though I'd say at least this year it's a long shot bid.
