ahjfcshfghb reacted to Werloc in Biathlon IBU World Cup 2019 - 2020
I still can't believe why they're so bent on ignoring Runggaldier. Sure, she is not as fast as most other Italians, but she never goes around the penalty loop, because her shooting is reliable and that's what the Italian team always lacked with 40% relay accuracy from Gontier and an often shaky performance from Sanfilippo.

Well, I was working today, but I of course, managed to find a way to somewhat track the men's sprint on my phone
All I can say is that IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!
This is history made for Lithuanian biathlon. This is the first time that two Lithuanian biathletes end up with points in a single race, the first time that three Lithuanian biathletes have won points in a season and the highest ever placement for Lithuanian men in World Cup biathlon, because Kaukėnas only ever got inside top 20 in World Championships or Olympics.
Vytautas Strolia became a father a couple of hours before the race started, there's a whole interview about that one now that I'll head to read right now.
This is also the second time in Karol's career that he enters a Top 40.
Also, I had this joke with my friend and I said that Lithuanian men will definitely get into points, because we always do, when there's no pursuit afterwards. It's so funny right now

Yep, RUS win in OT/PSO and CAN win in Regulation Time is now the only way you´ll have to play the relegation round. Hopefully it won´t happen, this czech team is showing some heart and deserve to play for medals.
I agree, I can not believe our luck actually this year, this joke team had but you know, the groups are depending on the previous year results and since many surprises happened last year with CAN and SWE losing their QF to SUI and FIN. so this totally unbalanced this years groups and thanks all heavens it somehow helped us the most

Here’s our first official episode of TWU (Totallympics Weekly Update): https://anchor.fm/twu/episodes/TWU-2-Ending-Out-The-Year-With-Our-Best-Episode-Yet-e9t9tj
@Vojthas and myself really enjoyed this one, so please give it a listen whenever you get the chance (on your way to work, in morning, before bed, when you’re bored, when there aren’t enough sports on, etc.)
Again, we’d love any feedback you could give us. Also, any suggestions for what we should cover next week. Plus, any ideas for segments or episodes (or of you’d like to come on for an episode and talk with us about something).
Lastly, @Vojthas, @Dragon, and I cannot thank you enough for supporting us this year. Admittedly, it’s been a rocky start. However, with your support we’ve been able to build up an awesome website, and a great audio service. I’d also give thanks to @OlympicIRL and @mrv86 for their early contributions to Totallympics Media (and your both welcome back anytime ). Some more thanks are in order to users like @heywoodu @dcro @ChandlerMne @ahjfcshfghb @intoronto @Wumo @zob79 @TomJa @bmo @ofan @Griff88 @JoshMartini007 (and anyone else who I just unfortunately forgot) who give us constant feedback, consist support, and our the main reason we’ve made it this far. Of course, the man himself, @Sindo was deserves a massive, massive thanks for helping us accomplish all of this; without his work, none of us would have meant, we would have never had our own website, and we’d never have had a place to belong. 2019, was a fantastic, maddening, awesome, thrilling, joyously crazy, and thrill ride of a year. For all of us at Totallympics Media: Thank You all for your support and passion. We hope you have a wonderful, blessed, and sport-filled 2020.

ahjfcshfghb got a reaction from thiago_simoes in Non-Olympic Countries and Territories Thread
I made this thread for all discussions, questions and breaking news about countries and territories that aren't IOC members; whether it's Bougainville's attempts to become independent, the Faroe Islands trying to join the IOC, Vatican City's athletics team, or a small island competing in organized sport for the first time.
To track where everyone is I made a list here. The list includes all countries and dependencies with some kind of population (going off of ISO codes mostly) and I will be updating it as statuses change. "Competing Internationally" means they're active on an international sporting level – either part of a multi-sport Games or an international sport federation.
Countries Competing Internationally:
Abkhazia (CONIFA) Niue (Commonwealth Games, World Rugby) Northern Cyprus (CONIFA, WPA) Sahrawi Republic (CONIFA) Somaliland (CONIFA) South Ossetia (CONIFA) Vatican City (UCI, World Taekwondo) Countries Not Competing Internationally:

Time for a new NOC!
If it were up to me, should just give citizenship to refugee athletes and allow them to compete for them. Of course they’re are a few members of the Vatican who are athletes too, so just a suggestion. I glad the Holy See will finally have a Team after being the only country not to have one for years.

ROAD TO BEIJING 2022
2nd QUALIFYING ROUND Group L --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Netherlands-Spain on 8 January The deciding game between the Netherlands and Spain of the 2019 Men’s Olympic Qualification Preliminary Round 2 Group L in Barcelona, Spain, that had to be cancelled, will be played on 8 January 2020.
The original game on Sunday had to be stopped after one period and no goals scored due to significant ice problems that could not be solved.
The game will now be played, from the beginning, on 8 January 2020 in Barcelona after discussions between the International Ice Hockey Federation and its members in the Netherlands and Spain. The exact time is to be determined but the ambition is to play early afternoon so the team from the Netherlands can fly back the same evening.
Since the groups of the next round will be determined by seeding (the 2019 IIHF Men’s World Ranking), it will also affect the group allocation. If the Netherlands win, they will go to Group H in Nur-Sultan to face host Kazakhstan, Poland and Ukraine. A Spanish victory would send Spain to Jesenice, Slovenia to play in Group G against host Slovenia, Japan and Lithuania.
Croatia, which has qualified for the next round and waits for its group allocation, will play in the other group. Romania, another qualifier, is top-seeded from the Round 2 teams and will play in February in Group J in Nottingham with host Great Britain, Hungary and Estonia. IIHF.COM -

just to clarify, when you´ll order one, look at the ending of the word Biathlete. so in this case Biatlonista / Biatlonistka
Biatlonista is for boys
Biatlonistka is for girls

ahjfcshfghb reacted to Werloc in Biathlon IBU World Cup 2019 - 2020
What a shame, we nearly had a historical competition for Lithuania, where all three athletes would have made the pursuit.
Unfortunately, Kaukėnas will fall down to 61st
But, it is great that this is the second sprint and it is points again for Lithuania with Vytautas Strolia finishing 31st, exactly where Tomas finished in Ostersund.
Karol Dombrovski really dug deep to finish 53rd with two mistakes even. This is the man that struggled to get into top 60 when he shot 0+0.
A very honourable mention also goes to Natalija Kočergina for the 43rd in the women's sprint.
THAT IS THREE WHOLE LITHUANIANS IN THE PURSUITS FOR THE WEEKEND

aaaand no W relay for us in Hochfilzen...
Terézia Poliaková did not travel to Hochfilzen at the beginning of the week due to illness.
The doctor prescribed her antibiotics. so this Saturday Slovakia will not field a relay again and will compete in the sprint only with three starters both Fialková sisters (still not 100% sure for Pauliana) and the young Veronika Machyniaková in her desperate attempt to save the world cup quota also for next trimester.
