I don’t think they’ll ever get involved tbh. As long as they’re clear with the athletes before qualifying begins, that’s all that matters really. 

This result for Finn Lynch confirmed his selection for Ireland. He had been ahead after the world championships anyway

FWIW they have said that they’ll accept any invitations for Paris (unlike Tokyo when they said they wouldn’t but ended up having to to fill the relay team)
