Greetings all! My name is John and I live in San Francisco but was born in Canada and am still a Canadian citizen. Happy to be here.
I am producing an Olympian documentary series featuring short stories about Olympians with inspiring and compelling stories. I am about to enter post-production on my first two stories and have a website with all the info. The documentary series is titled "Beyond Bronze, Silver and Gold" and here is the link;

I hope to be spending more time here and contributing what I can. Cheers!

Gender equality follows political changes in that area. So, yes, you are completelly right.
When i see your chart, i see that percentage of women doubled in the period between 1980-2000. Samaranch was president in that period. That's a period when women got (well deserved) rights in majority areas of life. And i fully support this. I like to see women in sports, in every sport, to be precise. But these days we have 6 women weight categories in wrestling. Same as in MFS and GR. Thats artificial equality. Excluding men's categories where fights are much more interesting to watch, in order to have 6 women's categories (women wrestling just doesnt have that "x-factor")...Up until 2012 it was fine. Now 6-6-6. Thats why i mentioned Bach.
Bach is just one figure that has to adapt to political and other pressures. So, i agree with you. Somehow, i hope to see strong sport administrators, who wont "dance as governments say" but i now its utopic. When rigid Saudi Arabia had to send female athletes, then its obvious that there is a huge force above sport officials.
I feel in which direction Olympics are heading, and i dont like it. I also know that, for IOC, fans are just "sand in the see" and that they wont listen us but at least we can express our dissatisfaction with those changes.

I think everyone supports the idea in it's basic sense. The problem is taking away perfectly competitive events and replacing them by events that either are barely competitive or don't even exist in an established competition format yet (women's monobob as main example, it's been added to the Olympics for 2022 and it's not even a World Cup event yet (and I don't see it on next year's calendar neither). That's just nuts, whoever's fault it is.

Really not the strongest roster but i recognize few of them. Beside Gigi there is also Muslimov who had good ECh last year.

4 groups, 16 participants, 2 prequalified. 10 will qualify.
Actually, top 3 from 2 groups, top 2 from other two groups.
In two groups there will be USA and Japan.

Double Trap, Canoe Slalom C2, Canoe Sprint K4-1000m...3 great events of Rio 2016 some of them slowly disappearing ad some already not existing anmore only 3 years after being dropped by IOC
Bach the biggest evil of the Olympics

IMO, last "good" games were London 2012. After that, Bach is steadily killing Olympics. He is doing that in few simple but effective steps.
1. Reducing number of athletes by any cost
2. Artificially equaling gender representation
3. Adding some sports which are "urban" and youth appealing (are they sport at all is a question to discuss)
4. Destroying traditional sports by reducing categories or even disciplines and by adding some mix competitions which are pointless
5. Saving as much money as possible
Maybe i am old, but i started to like olympics when they were "normal". This V2010+ version is...blah... not my cup of tea.

actually, I find it the most stupid decision ever...
Karate is one of the most universal sport in the world, usually at the world champs we have all the 5 Continents (6 sub-Continents, if you want to keep North and South America as 2 separate entities), 4 of them making the podium...
many weight classes have more than 100 starters (with the usual limitation to 1 per NOC! )...
but they decided to give them just 10 spots per class and they didn't even allowed all 6 classes per gender to be in Tokyo...and then...bang! they killed the sport and its athletes for what? breakdancing! a non-sport activity played by a bunch of babies with street (often criminal) culture as their main background...
the same for skateboarding, BMX freestyle...and all the other sports where you have always the usual 5/6 participating Countries and only the usual 3 Nations winning (almost) all the medals...
and let's not talk about corrupted or doping inflated sports (do you know Boxing and Weightlifting?), always under threat to be dropped and actually never really in danger...
or what about sports where only the 2nd/3rd tier athletes are participating to the Games (any reference to men's Football and Baseball is purely intentional)...
moreover...they threatened to drop many sports because they're male-only oriented (causing abominable monsters like women's boxing to be included in the Olympic schedule), but they keep Artistic Swimming and Rhythmic Gymnastics well stuck into the program (and they even forbid those few men practicing Artistic Swimming to dream about an Olympic medal keeping the Mixed Duo -now an established event at the world champs- far away from the Olympics)...
dropping that sh*t would be an excellent decision...not dropping one of the most wide spread sport in the world...

Thanks.
I actually started to like Arturo in 2012 when he was flawless. His performance was something perfect. After that i watched WC and up until Rio, that was it.
Elefterios was perfect back in Rio, but before start i somehow hoped for another gold for Zanetti.
I like rings the most so i will observe it closely this time.

For
As in 2016, no real medal prospects. Mens water polo and womens handball should be closest to medal but in both sports we hit our prime so winning a medal would be huge surprise.
In water polo Serbia, Croatia and Italy/Spain are top contenders. Also we have Greece and Hungary, USA is always dangerous. Montenegrin team changed a lot, there are many new players... Thing to note, when we were favorites ( Beijing, London) we finished empty handed. Now, we arent favorites,so things could be different in Tokyo. Wheels of fortune...
Handball team is solid, we have few London medalists but with France,Russia, Spain and Norway it will be hell of a task.
All other participant wont be close to medal except, maybe, Bojana Gojkovic in boxing,if she manages to qualify. She is still a junior but she is unbeatable last few years. She is 2x European champion, she regularly beats Russian and other top boxers. I dont know what to expect in Tokyo but in Paris she could be among serious medal contenders.

The 2018 Central American and Caribbean are completely available on YouTube as well as the 2017 Jeux De La Francophonie, and 2015 Pacific Games (more to come about the 2019 Pacifix Games in a few days), the 2019 African Beach Games are completely available on Facebook, the 2017 and 2019 universaides are available on FISU TV. So there are things out there, just check the front page of Totallympics Media. Finding replays is what I was doing for the forum before I started the podcast.

Then i will try watching them.
Sad truth. I was watching Asian Games from Singapore (maybe 2010) and they deleted entire channel.
Last good MS event i watched was Baku 2015. Every second broadcasted.

You can try opening Channel One Russia's Odnoklassiki with Hola, they have the whole broadcasted sessions. I reuploaded badminton finals from there to YouTube.
(Olympic Channel is threatening copyright strike for those who reuploaded screen recordings from their website, for example the opening video is down)

I haven’t found much yet, but if I do I’ll post them to in the replay section. Ukrainian (Inter TV) has a few on YouTube, but Russian (Match TV) has a good amount on their website if you have a vpn.
