Griff88 got a reaction from maestro in Totallympics Open International Song Contest 2023
Well thank you @Olympian1010for posting the “finale” I was convinced I will have time to post the votes during the car commute between destinations, it turned out I talked too much with our Thai driver and forgot the whole thing.
Thank you for the votes!

I liked the Indonesian song, but the fact that it was uploaded on Youtube and was cut incorrectly at the end is what killed it for me completely.
Every single time I would listen to it and think that it's cute, it was immediately murdered with that unsatisfying conclusion.

Miss Curaçao used this weekend’s Miss Universe Pageant to make a political statement about her territory’s lack of representation at the Olympics.
definitely trying to keep pressure on the IOC when it comes to Olympics representation.

Just to let you know, at that time I'm on my way to an "early" vacation in Thailand... So I won't be able to post the votes by myself

Once again, Apple and it's devices causing problems I can't count the amount of times that one colleague delayed a work meeting for half an hour because his MacBook had yet another issue with Microsoft Teams (which worked perfectly for everyone else)
Anyhow, it must be frustrating for @Olympian1010 that it's not working well, but we're gonna make a TISC party of it nonetheless tomorrow, no worries about that

Sen Masao - Kitaguni no Haru
Kitaguni no Haru released in 1977 is one of the most popular enka songs in Japan. The song was covered by various singer in the Sinosphere under various title. This song is a very special song to my late father, although what he listened to is a cover version in Chinese called Rong Shu Xia (Under the Banyan Tree) by Yu Tian [see spoiler] and he is unaware that the song is originally a Japanese song . I'm choosing the original version for the sake of giving homage to the original singer.
Since I was a kid I listened to this a lot because my father would play the CD early in the morning and maybe this is one of the factors that gave me a soft spot for Japanese enka/Korean trot (and perhaps contributing to my music taste). My father was hospitalized a few years back due to brain hemorrhage and passed away within a month. Before his passing, I brought a music player and played this tune a few times whenever I visited him in the hospital. Well... it certainly brings back memories and I will be glad if you liked this too.

There are many songs that remind me of my brother and my sister who passed so I will just post a couple.
This song reminds me of my older sister. She was a big fan of Kylie when she first came out and she bought the album on cassette. She would play the album in our kitchen over and over. She had me and the rest of my brothers and sisters dancing to the locomotion, very fond memories
And this song reminds me of my brother for a completely different reason. It is not a song he liked, in fact I am not sure if he ever got to hear the song. It reminds me of him because at the time of his passing and the weeks just after, I spent a lot of time in my teenage bedroom listening to music and this song was all over the air waves at the time and every time I hear the song it brings me right back to that time and how I was feeling.

I would like to present the most famous "electronic music" of China, opening song of Journey to the West (1986 version). Journey to the West is the most famous Chinese mythical novel, its characters and songs are known to almost every Chinese. And its mythological characters like the Monkey King are always popularly cosplayed on Halloween in China.

In Indonesia, it's called bel iseng ("mischief bell") because doorbells are seen as novelty for kids from poorer neighborhoods. Knocking doors maybe a bit unusual since people here often just hanging around in front of their houses with doors wide open during the day (unless you live in a gated community). I think the last time I saw kids doing this to my house was 8 or 9 years ago, I think kids nowadays prefer to play those tower defense games with their phones lol

So Donny Trump praised Viktor Orban as the greates leader of Turkey
“There’s a man, Viktor Orbán, did anyone ever hear of him?” Trump said, referring to the Hungarian prime minister.
“He’s probably, like, one of the strongest leaders anywhere in the world. He’s the leader of Turkey,” the former president said.
and if it was not enough, he kept rolling that he is magnificent and blabla despite his country is bordering Russia ... well, last time I checked the map neither of Turkey or Hungary was neighboring mother Russia...
but ok, Donny. As you wish ...
I do not know whom this man employs as his secretary and counsellors, but the pal must be something else
