Looks like the Cross-Country rankings will give quotas to the 10,000m.

Also the marathon qualification has begun since Nov 1st, the following athletes have met the standard already (I'll only list a max of three athletes per nation, only applied to Ethiopia and Kenya). Unsurprisingly, a bunch of nations have qualified their first athletes

Great championship for Canada. Even on our men's side we are starting to get some depth, Ilya Kharun may be a person to watch.

Now if only we can get some progress in breaststroke. The women's side is getting better, but on the men's side it was backstroke specialist Javier Acevedo who did the breaststroke leg during the relay final.

    Interesting story about Kharun

He was initially going to represent at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, but it turned out he wasn't a US citizen and was actually born in . Unsurprisingly, Canada was quick to scoop him up. Hopefully he stays with us.

We'll see if everyone decides to come. There's a bit of a gap between the World Championships and Pan American Games, but October may be tough for our university swimmers. Still something like our Commonwealth Games team where most came would be much better than our past teams.

This will be quite interesting. As you said, anything with a measurement/score can be compared. Head-to-head competitions like boxing will be a bit more difficult.

Some days I like to imagine a 192-team World Cup. Screw logistics and the time it would take to complete. I want a true World Cup

Sorry for the 19 or so teams which won't participate.

Yeah, unless the IOC wants to allow smaller venues it's going to be very difficult for anyone, but the most wealthy nations to host.

You can probably add and to the short list. will join once they are no longer a pariah. Still, not even a dozen nations capable of hosting. If you really want to, you could add in the maybe pile since they have some of the venues...

Not surprised that the United States is on an entirely different level than the rest of the continent. My prediction was them winning 9/12 quotas and they did even better by winning 10. In addition to their performance at the World Championships, they now have maximum quotas in five events (men's trap & skeet and women's 50m rifle, 10m rifle & skeet) so at least the rest of us now have a chance at qualifying.

With the 2023 World Championships scheduled before the 2023 Pan American Games, we could also see the United States qualify their second quota in women's trap.
