Former biathlete Anton Shipulin (brother of gold star Anastasiya Kuzmina) is in hospital with a positive coronavirus test. He announced it through his instagram informing that his family members, wife Luiza and daughter Mira, are also ill.
 
All three were probably infected during their vacation in Sochi.

Qatar really doesn't have a great record when it comes to major events.

As long as it's this year only, it's fine.  This is a 60 game regular season.  Not a true 162 game test that we normally have.  And it's going to make for a lot more relevant baseball games in September which will help keep teams and players motivated when they'd otherwise be playing out the string in empty stadiums.
 
My concern is the randomness of baseball, especially in a shorter series.  Very easy for a lesser team to catch a few breaks and knock off a better one.

The highlight of day 2 for me would have been the debut of surfing.

well, today it would have been officially the -2 day, but in practice we could have watched the first Olympic events (Softball and women's Football) of the Tokyo 2020 Games...
 
instead, it's only -367 officially (-365 in practice, that's what really counts to me)...
 
I feel so sad...my heart is broken...I can't even watch old Olympic pictures as usual without a river of tears coming off my eyes, going down my cheeks...  

This is honestly pretty useful, there were some sports (notably surfing) where I wasn't sure of the exact competition format.

I booked 2 weeks off work for the Olympics this year. I planned my holiday time carefully, making sure it coincided with the Olympics and I was really happy after I scheduled the time off, knowing I could watch the whole Games without interruption. Now I have to pray that next year I will be able to do the same thing

This is definitely one of those "why are more people not talking about this" stories.  Yea, we're in the middle of a pandemic, but eventually someone will notice that.  I don't know that it will result in large scale boycotts of 2022, but we'll hear more chirping about it at some point for sure, especially if it continues.

by the way, today it would have been only 1 week to the first events of the Tokyo 2020 "original" Games...
