Vas and Vos aren't playing games neither, both are going for it entirely.

Because she was trying to keep that group motivated. Kopecky/Vos/Borghini were starting to play games. Which meant that they were losing their lead. Which is why Henderson and Deignan had caught the group back up.
 
Georgi was always the most likely medalist but they are trying to either break other riders/keep ahead of the like of Dygart behind.

Vos is tactically so good.

I suspect Tom will be slightly disappointed. Not in relation to Leon or Duncan but there was a bronze up for grabs there. Still, 5th is a solid performance.
 
Pleased for Katie and Honey. Those are both fine performances in a tough event.
 
The pool is obviously not going to have the golden shine that Tokyo had. But we're still at 1G and 4S which is a perfectly respectable haul, with small chances of adding to it in the men's relay, the women's 200m IM, women's 50m free and women's relay in that order.
 
Shame for Beth, she had her one bad start of the week and got caught in the pack. Wonder if the longer hold at the start spooked her.
 
Just under halfway through the competition and we're firmly on track to be somewhere in the 50s total medal wise.
 
I reckon we have 87 medal shots left in my patented Fail-o-meter, ranging from the Keely down to some much more speculative ones. For reference, the medals we've got thus far have been from 65 medal shots.

It's getting a lot of coverage on US tv, but that's partially because they have an entire golf channel.
 
I've no real problem with golf being in the Games but I think strokeplay golf being in the Games is dumb and an insane choice. Who is going to commit to watching anything other than maybe the final few holes of round 4?

51.61. Not as quick as Joe's split in the mixed medley heat (51.37) but quicker than his split in the men's heat (51.67). Obviously both quicker than Jimmy, even with a rolling start to be taken into account for Joe/Duncan.
 
Not sure there's a definitive best answer. Duncan was very much in the wash in the mixed medley, which shouldn't happen in the men's to the same extent and might make his split better. So that might influence it. But I don't think it will matter that much. A bronze is within reach but probably still unlikely.

And I would be amazed if Mayer doesn't as well.

Again, in Rome last month he had PB'ed 3 times and SB'ed 4 times in the 8 events he took part in.
 
He hit 8600 at the Euro 23s last year. He's been an athlete on the rise. He's just risen slightly quicker than was expected.

I do think they should have a kind of warm-up race on finals day, yes. A race or something with everyone who races on finals day, which doesn't count for anything other than getting familiar with the conditions.
