  1. clearly stated does not mean much hahaha but yeah, i think anyway they would be given WC so it would be an extra.
  2. I think some AIN athletes could benefit from that. I can see they giving out 4 tripartite and 4 AIN quotas or something like that.
  3. and i don't get how a country with 2 of the 5 best athletes in the world can't get a reasonable team.
  4. Just coming back here because although it is very clear that Hugo Catrileo should be qualified, I don't think they are counting with that. Athletics have a bunch of extra quotas, he should get one...
  5. Sad for her, but I don't get the whole idea of "let's change the system because of one specific case". The Olympics is also about have more nations represented. Having said that, I would like to see a bigger fencing draw, like 48? And then we could have a rule of "if you are in top10 you can have 2 individual athletes qualified", like in Badminton for instance or tennis doubles
  6. African Games- Accra, Ghana March 18-22, 2024 Full Results No new qualifiers Ese BRUME did 6.92m on long jump but on a whooping +3.9 wind! All others who did times under the Olympic standard had done it before.
  7. no, Bladtceva was not eligible given that Lebedeva got a quota. Who got the 2nd quota for AIN (through Belarus) was Viyaleta BARDZILOUSKAYA.
  8. 1 guy and 1 girl from Belarus and 1 girl from Russia qualified on Trampoline gymnastics. I THINK that if Russian Gymnastics accepts the quota here... it COULD easily accept any invitation to have a Russian athlete on Artistic Gymnastics
  9. You are right!!!! Portugal lost its quota, as it was won by Vasileia Karachaliou. Probably Greece did not let her go. Therefore Finland got a quota from the 2023 World Championships and Israel got the quota from Finland.
  10. Hey guys, here it is my update on Entry Standards that were accomplished until last week or so, on men's athletics and were not published here, to the best of my knowledge. update: I finished the edits and will post Marathon tomorrow. In this case, specifically Vasiliy MIZINOV; Anton KURBATOV
  11. Each gender will have 16 quotas. Up to 12 from world cup because it depended on the number of quotas guaranteed from the world championhips and how many would need to go to continental classification
  12. The last male quota will still be decided depending on Sunday's final. Just a recap: we have had 5 quotas on the 23 WC, and 8 direct quotas from the 24 world cups. Another reallocation from host nation (as France guaranteed directly) plus another possible reallocation from Universality (they were never used on Trampoline and athletes need to compete on Continental Championships to be eligible). The last one will be from African qualifer, only continent not represented either on male or female. Having said all that, let's go MEN (5 from World Championships: ) YAN Langlyu Dylan SCHMIDT Pierre GOUZOU Ivan LITVNOVICH Rayan DUTRA Aliaksei SHOSTAK David VEGA Angel HERNANDEZ - guaranteed at least with the Host Nation reallocation quota the last quota will go between Gabriel ALBUQUERQUE can get the quota if he finishes at least on top3, depending also on results from Ivan LITVNOVICH. If he doesn't get it: Danil MUSSABAYEV get this quota. If Gabriel gets it, KAZ is next on line for the Universality reallocation. If POR doesn't get the quota and KAZ stays with the host nation reallocation, the Universality reallocation will go to Fabian VOGEL Just for info, next in line for reallocation is: Blake RUTHERFORD; Anton DAVYDENKO; Remi AUBIN WOMEN (5 from World Championships: ) ZHU Xueying Bryony PAGE MORI Hikaru Iana LEBEDEVA Lea LABROUSSE Madaline DAVIDSON ROMERO ROSARIO Seljan MAHSUDOVA The host nation quota would go to: Viyaleta BARDZILOUSKAYA - obviously is still uncertain if a Russian and a Belarussian could get quotas together. I believe so given the example from taekwondo and as even if they are both going as AIN, they have different passports. If this is confirmed, the possible reallocation from Universality would go to: Luba GOLOVINA And the reserves are: Sofia CORREIA; Abbey WATTS; Dafne NAVARRO LOZA Just as a final reminder, the reserves are only in cases in which a NOC can not or shall not send someone... or the athletes that earned a quota is DSQ from competition due to doping or something like that. AIN also makes things a bit more hanging as the quota is for the NOC, it is highly unlikely that they will be called.
  13. trampoline never used universality, but still could. Although interested countries would have to participate in continental championships to be eligible
  14. For now, the only open gay judoka, Timo Cavelius is losing ground on the Olympic ranking and maybe will not go to Paris afterall.
  15. is the other semifinal being broadcasted somewhere? Cheering for Benjamin Lock, as Laura Pigossi's beau. would be great to have a Olympic couple.
  16. Maya Sheriff probably will end up with the quota anyway as the only semifinalist in the top400.
  17. Does anyone have any idea who those 12 russians and 7 belarus could be? I have 12 Russians qualified on my table, but 2 are from athletics (they achieved the quota but WA is not including them). So, the others are: 2 from Road Cycling + 4 in taekwondo + 4 in wrestling As in Belarus, we have 8 so far: 2 in wrestling + 1 in taekwondo + 1 in rowing + 3 in swimming (but are those already considered quota?) + 1 in road cycling. Obviously that many of these may have double passports. But with this we would have 18 in total, not considering the athletics. Who else from AIN already got a quota?
  18. Just read the official confirmation from FEI, so sad that Svenja GRIMM lost the quota. She gave an interview to a Chilean newspaper Not sure if is fair or unfair, but it's sad that qualifications that happen based on tournaments are still not confirmed. I remember thinking about that still in Santiago, but was hoping they would not take her out of the games.
  19. Apparently, the 4 main seeds got to the men semifinals.
  20. The 4 main seeds at the men's draw are alive. they are the only ones that could realistically use the Olympic quota. Aziz Dougaz needed a 10-8 MTB win to pass in the first round and will face Elliot Benchetri in a QF Moez Echargui play against Eliakim Coulibaly Benjamin Lock lost at the R32 according to the official website but he also won (?) so he will face Michel Bassem in the QF (seriously, what's so difficult on posting a pdf draw in the website?) Mohamed Safwat #368 will face Iradukunda Guy Orly On the women's side WOMEN'S Mayar Sherif is the big favorite and is on the QF. The only other African woman on the top400, Sada Nahimana started well, winning 6-0 6-0 but then lost to a south african player. I wonder if the Universality quota will go to her or again to
  21. Yeah, I agree but I try to think in the positive half-glass-full way. In the past everybody was assumed to be straight until they had their official coming out. Nowadays it is still the same, but through instagram and other social media you can see athletes comfortable enough to show same-gender boyfriends/girlfriends even if they don't see themselves as ambassadors etc. We have to remember that most of them have spent their entire lives focused on sport, so they many times are unaware of major social issues or just don't have the strength/time/abilities to do that. That's why I like that IOC NOCs and affiliates (such as IOA) are creating more educational programs for the athletes.
  22. Update on quotas based on Road to Paris, part 4 (part 1) (part2) (part3) During this week I do men's and will keep on checking for updates In bold those that effectively won/added quotas for their countries, including Mongolia with its first quota on athletics. Women's Shot Put Jaida Ross - Razorback Invitational - Faytteville, USA (2024 Jan 27) Women's 20k Race Walk JI Haiying - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) PENG Li - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) YIN Lamei - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) SHI Yuxia - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) QIJI Zhuoma - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) MA Li - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) Cristina MONTESINOS - Spanish Open - Zaragoza, Spain (2024 feb 25) Laura GARCÍA-CARO - Spanish Open - Zaragoza, Spain (2024 feb 25) Clémence BERETTA - Race Walk Grand Prix - Taicang, China (2024 mar 03) FUJII Nanako - Japanese Championships - Kobe, Kapan (2024 feb 18) OKADA Kumiko - Japanese Championships - Kobe, Kapan (2024 feb 18) Mariia SAKHARUK - 43rd Dudinska 50 - Dudinska, Slovakia (2024 mar 16) Women's Marathon XIA Yuyu - Nagoya Marathon - Nagoya, Japan (2024 mar 10) Mary Zenaida GRANJA - Sevilla Marathon - Sevilla, Spain (2024 feb 18) Jessica MCLAIN - Olympic Trials - Orlando, USA (2024 mar 10) Caroline ROTICH - Olympic Trials - Orlando, USA (2024 feb 03) Degitu AZIMERAW - Barcelona Marathon - Barcelona, Spain (2024 mar 10) Shuko GENEMO - Barcelona Marathon - Barcelona, Spain (2024 mar 10) KASEDA Rika - Nagoya Marathon - Nagoya, Japan (2024 mar 10) OHNISHI Hikari - Nagoya Marathon - Nagoya, Japan (2024 mar 10) TANIMOTO Mizuki - Olympic Trials - Tokyo, Japan (2023 oct 22) Gladys CHEPKURUI - San Sebastian Marathon - San Sebastian Spain (2022 nov 27) Kaoutar BOULAID - Barcelona Marathon - Barcelona, Spain (2024 mar 10) Khishigsaikhan GALBADRAKH - Tokyo MArathon - Tokyo, Japan (2024 03 mar) One major issue As in other events, World Athletics has not included many athletes with quotas, but in all previous cases they were from countries with a lot of qualified athletes, so it will hardly matter. But in Marathon, Road to Paris count 82 athletes as qualified (albeit the limit is 80), but does not count two that reached the quota and appears as the "best in the rankings": Nazret Weldu Nienke Brinkman Both qualified at the Boston Marathon. Their results are there and their times are lower than the quota... Does anyone know if they or their federations are aware that they are not considered qualified? And what could happen? For now, Jovana de la Cruz Capani (PER) and Jackline Sakilu (TAN) are on 81 and 82 on the list. Is there any risk for them even with EST? Or they will be granted one of the "extra quotas" reserved? One minor issue There are 3 russians who have achieved quotas in Race Walk at the Sochi tournament in february 13, 2023 and I was noting them (I guess Josh as well) because apparently the events seemed to be eligible... but the Russians are not in the list.
