Monzanator got a reaction from hckošice in Alpine Skiing 2022 - 2023 Discussion Thread
Calendar for 2022/23 season is out. They rejected all the new ideas after all, parallels are almost gone and no combined of any sort.
Big change is the addition of North American rounds after the World Championships for men as women will race in Kvitfjell instead.
Maribor is out like previously reported.

Power Rankings
24th May 2022
Get ready to bite your fingernails! The quarter-finals are next, and the host Finns – who have allowed the tournament’s fewest goals by far – are sitting pretty in first place in our sixth Power Rankings of the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. The unbeaten Swiss, coming off a hard-fought 4-3 shootout win over Germany, are second, while Sweden holds down third place. 1 FIN Fun fact: the word “Tampere” has “team” in it 2 SUI From the first shift, we’ll devalue their currency 3 SWE Kneel before Nylander! 4 GER When Plachta kneels, it makes highlight reels 5 CAN The “Workhorse from Whitehorse” is a stud 6 CZE Us: Lose to Finland. Obstacle course? My lord this is some bad shit. Guess the urban events are being sold as the new future. What a load of croc. Just kill this sport already. I have a feeling it will die within the next five years anyway. Rope swing? American Gladiators had more innovation 30 years ago than this shit.

Jo-Willie Tsonga played his final match and had a very emotional ceremony afterwards. The French really did a good job in making this a proper send-off to one of their best in the new century. He has never been one, that i was fond of in his best years, but i have to admit the tribute video they showed got me a bit choked up. Almost all of that second tier of players that supplemented the Big 3 (or 4, if you'd like) for close to a decade are now retired. Nalbandian, Davydenko, Soderling in the beginning and then Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Del Potro and Wawrinka in the second wave. Only one left is Stan the Man, but for how long.

Monzanator got a reaction from FancyFenchel in Ski Jumping 2022 - 2023 Discussion Thread
Due to the World Cup in Qatar the new season will start on November 6th in Wisla and for the first time ever the competition will be held on plastic run-offs which is standard for the summer events. The season will close on April 2nd which makes it the longest ski jumping season ever. Pretty expendable in a sport where only 10 nations compete on a reasonable basis and some of them are semi-professional to say the very least.
Also Vladimir Zografski has moved to Poland full-time (his wife is Polish).

Monzanator got a reaction from Makedonas in [OFF TOPIC] Eurovision Song Contest 2022
It's a complete travesty of the voting system. EBU openly claims they can rig the voting whichever way they want to if only some songs that were supposed to be unpopular receive too many votes from certain countries that can be deemed "illegal". What an absolute joke that is. I guess EBU really wanted Great Britain to win? Sorry, they have to rig the votes a little more next year
-
Monzanator got a reaction from Makedonas in [OFF TOPIC] Eurovision Song Contest 2022
Six countries (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania & San Marino) had their jury votes annulled and EBU gave those points based on some mysterious voting patterns. Azerbaijan & Georgia jury wanted to give 12 points to Ukraine and EBU gave those 12 points to Great Britain I mean the voting is rigged by EBU and they are even gloating about it? How long until this nonsense continues?
