Just let's get rid of weightlifting finally. Solves a lot of problems.

And I don't know why not give invitations to the marathon.

They gave just 1 to a  athlete who probably is going to end like at least 25 minutes behind everyone. Invite 3/4 more athletes, so they can form a small "pack" in the back of the race and run with each other and no just one, cause then it's going to be too obvious. And is the easiest to allocate athletes cause always is going to be an athlete with the olympic standard that struggles and goes over 3 hours for the women, and 2:30 for the men.

for the men all have decent marathon runners. And  for the women.

It creates a decent secondary field that is not going to "humilliate" themselves in the track.

How can you equate the possible actions of a foolish individual with state sponsored industrial scale cheating?

I think the logic is that the European places were awarded first and then the reallocated quotas which ended up being the same nation. Of course with athletes still pulling out the point might be moot.

If true then it is really bad luck for her, it came half day too late. Our Team was today officially approved and finalised by the NOC general assembly.

As far I understood correctly, the only exceptions being allowed to be added to the team now are only by eventual re-allocation in Triathlon (only for M event Richard Varga) and MTB Cycling (only for M Cross-country)..but looks unlikely..
and the only relaxed rules are for any eventual invitation we may receive in Swimming, because somehow FINA forget about Slovakia it appears, we did not receive any charity invitation or information so far it looks like we are going for the first time to not have any swimmer at the Olympics. 20 years afte Moravcová won 2 silvers in Sydney

but yeah...not like it will be even noticed in the country, so ...

I do think the decision is pretty fact specific - you can’t create a qualification system where you denny an athlete the chance to qualify because of a pregnancy that happened three years before the qualification system was published.

Tennis’ qualification system does have accommodations for injured athletes and I actually think that’s mostly a good thing.

Ethical things semi-wrongfully being called politics

Bigger than all of this though: no Mobot in Tokyo, waiting for BBC to pull the plug on the entire Olympics

Politics is not only about politicians. Sometimes it looks like you're just throwing everything on the wall to see what sticks. The kind of politics you're supposedly against has very few to do with politicians and political parties, and more to do with people's awareness about who they are in this world.

You see, even splitting the competition between men and women for the overwhelming majority of sports is a political decision. These kind of decisions affect our everyday lives, such as keeping different restrooms for men and women, for example. Let's not forget that decisions about gender are at the very core of how the Olympics are organized, so I believe it's not up to anyone to just decide who can or cannot show their support about policial causes, and when it's okay to do it. It's just hypocritical to forbid or impose limits about where athletes can show their support.

So, you have to admit that most athletes depend on politics to even train. There's absolutely no way sports and politics can be separated.

Everything is political in a democracy. And democracy is people. And athletes are people and thus most of them have some ideas about world they care about.

Back at the start of the 80s the South African Apartheid government used to squeal about keeping politics out of sport.
Forty years later people on both sides of the argument now accept the sporting boycott of South Africa was very important in stopping the subjugation of black people in the country and allowing Mandela to become President,

So equal rights aren’t a political position then, thus acts that call for equality are apolitical?

Faroe Islands, Macau, South Ossetia, Sahrawi Republic, Bougainville…

Unless you want to compete as an athlete in a gendered event, or earn a Continental quota place, or be awarded tripartite invitation, or be a member of the Refugee Team…

Who gets to decide what messages are okay? Is regulating speech and/or actions apolitical?

    I have answered:

My posture is: As long as it's not an aggression towards another athlete or official, something impeding the normal running of the competition or something that breaks the law in the host country, you're free to do or say whatever.
