  1. :POL medalists according Gracenote:

    Gold:

Women's K4 500m in sprint canoeing, Wojciech Nowicki (athletics - men;s hammer throw), Aleksandra Mirosław (sport climbing - women's speed), Men's team in indoor volleyball

    Silver:

Iga Świątek (tennis - women's singles), Paweł Fajdek (athletics - men's hammer throw - for me it's wishful thinking :p), Katarzyna Wasick (swimming - women's 50m freestyle - even more wishful thinking :d), Karolina Naja/Anna Puławska (Women's K2 500 in sprint canoeing), men's quadruple sculls in rowing

    Bronze:

Natalia Kaczmarek (athletics - women's 400m), women's team epée in fencing

  2. :POL team. As expected we are sending best possible team, besides those athletes who are injured (Anna Kiełbasińska, Dariusz Kowaluk and Dominik Kopeć), not yet ready after pregnancy (Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik) or Pia Skrzyrzowska who is focused on individual races on hurdles. I would want to see all 5 relays to be qualified, but 3 are most realistic, I wont be surprised if it will be even less after last week failures everywhere....

Points are awarded based on final placing. NOCs need to get into top 8 to progress to next round though

Thanks to Germany we will be in top8, but Canada and Czechia are higher than us now.... I'm hoping that our guys will race better in next hours. But this worse performance was somehow expected after recent financial and mental issues...

men's +102kg, Olympic Quota places:GEO:BRN:ARM:IRI:SYR:UZB :AIN(:BLR:EGY:IRQ:ALG and :NZL (Continental quota)

next in line: :JPN:KOR:CZE:EST (given that :UZB will choose the -102kg class, :JPN is basically certain to be qualified, too)

Is that first quota for Iraq?

  5. :POL Angelika Cichocka (athletics, 800/1500m) announced her retirement today at age of 36. I'm sad that she never made a final race at Olympics and not win medal at Outdoor World Championships, she was one of best runners ever who never succeed to have a medal at the biggest events, mainly because often injuries.

And it's just beginning of the wave when our best athletes will announce retirement before/after Olympics this year :(

Also :POL Zofia Noceti-Klepacka (windsurfing), silver medalist of London Olympics and multiple medalists of World Championships and European Championships announced the same decision like Angelika two days ago, though she will yet compete in few more events this year.

It seems like :POL will be absent from OG in weightlifting for the first time since 1948

A historical collapse of the sport which is still third in our medal table haul (only behind athletics and boxing).

Weronika will start tomorrow or when?
